Here at House of Coco we think the words Champagne and Brunch go together exceptionally well so we were more than thrilled to hear Plum and Spilt Milk’s launch of their luxury new Saturday brunch menu. Our Lifestyle Writer, Helena, went to check it out…
Launching last month, the new menu created by Chef Director Mark Sargeant as a celebration of modern British cuisine, priced at £65 for two, it includes a choice of any dish from the menu plus a bottle of Billecart-Salmon Champagne to share and coffee to finish.
The perfect brunch for any occasion, and in a great location just a stone’s throw from Kings Cross station. Plum & Spilt Milk sets a luxurious atmosphere, the first thing I noticed was the beautiful hand-blown glass lamps that are suspended from the ceiling and dominate the dining room, it isn’t a particularly big area but this makes it even more comfortable, with lots of windows so the natural light can flood in.
The menu doesn’t disappoint, my eyes instantly drawn to the top where you begin with a choice of brunch cocktails, Breakfast Martini, Bucks Fizz, Bellini or Bloody Mary. Which is an extra addition just in case the bottle of Billecart-Salmon Champagne wasn’t enough!
Eggs come in all forms possible with the famous eggs Benedict as well as having a different twist like the Dorset lobster benedict, Brioche eggy bread with banana, pecans and salted caramel which sounded SO amazing I still regret not trying!
Of course, the old London favourite Avocado on toast appears on the menu, where you definitely can’t go wrong. For those diners with bigger appetites (e.g Me), they offer Mey Selection sirloin steak with two fried eggs and paprika potatoes, Grilled Chicken burger and Plum & Spilt Milk’s signature Full English, which is what I went for.
The Full English is very classic, with eggs, bacon, sausage, tomato, mushroom, black pudding and a choice of toast. Although I had to add a side of beans in there to actually make it FULL. The portion was a little on the small side but this is most definitely made up for by the flowing drinks and desserts. Another intensive selection with tasty treats such as Toffee Apple Baked Alaska, Iced Peanut and Salted Caramel Mousse or even a cheese board if you’re really not satisfied. I didn’t want to over-do it, and just had to try the Macarons. They were utterly perfect and went down so well with the last of the Champagne, I 100% recommend!
The Champagne brunch is available every Saturday between 11am and 3pm.
