Learning to drive and taking to the roads is one of the best feelings we’ll ever experience, but getting behind the wheel comes with great responsibility. Change in MOT tests
For most of us, it probably wouldn’t even cross our minds the thought of an annual MOT test changing, but a few changes have been made recently. Some new checks are being made to determine if the tyres are inflated correctly, where or not the brake fluid is contaminated and if there are any leaks within the vehicle, which may cause harm to the environment. The standard MOT test which we are all familiar with remains the same, but changes are constantly being made and checks being added, so it’s important to read up on this and make sure you’re aware prior to your vehicles MOT.
Keep up to date with the Highway Code
We spend so much time reciting the Highway Code whilst we’re learning to drive, but you may not be aware that changes can be made and added at any time. A recent change that has been made is the rule regarding overtaking cyclists. The rule states that any driver overtaking will need to leave at least 1.5 metres between their vehicle and the cyclist. Failing to do so could land the driver with a £100 fine. Small changes like this one could end up costing you, so for this reason, you can see why it’s important to constantly refresh your knowledge when it comes to the Highway Code.
