The classic menu is dedicated to the old Puglian tradition of visiting the local butcher’s and using the grill to cook fresh cuts of meat. With the main focus of the menu, the signature Bombette, meat which would often be rolled up into a little bundle and contain bits of cheese or be held together by cured meat. A delicious food and a tradition based on community, eating and sharing together. And now it’s here…
Set in a “little bit out of the way” part of East London but conveniently next to Snaresbrook station Bombetta is a small restaurant with a certain familiarity and local comfort which comes across just from peering through the all-glass windows. Feeling like part of the jovial “famiglia” immediately upon entry, the atmosphere is warm and pleasant.
Small plates or starters stick to the cultural, Grilled watermelon, Orecchiette with chickpeas, mushroom & tomato. Both which I recommend tasting.
Of course, the Bombette is the main attraction, with a combination cheese and meat fillings, from chicken, pork, spicy pancetta and truffle, there is a taste to suit everybody. The Pork, prosciutto San Daniele, truffle pecorino & porcini, my personal favourite, with juicy, tender meat and a strong yet not overbearing truffle taste, the fusion is just flawless. If you’re a meat and cheese lover, this is all you!
The sides are also non-guilty with courgette fries making an appearance as well as a variation of salads and freshly grilled Breadstation bread.
