If you’re looking for a vibrant Mexican restaurant in central London that combines authentic flavours with a social, approachable setting, Santo Remedio Marylebone is a standout. Perfect for catching up with friends over cocktails or enjoying a relaxed evening out, it strikes a balance between casual dining and confident, well-executed cooking. We sent our Wellness Editor, Anji McGrandles, to try the menu.

An Intimate Setting with the Right Buzz
Walking into Santo Remedio, the first thing you notice is the attention to detail in the décor. Exposed brick walls, dark timber furniture, and soft lighting create a cosy, stylish backdrop that still feels lively without being overwhelming. To the left of the entrance, a small bar is ideal for starting the evening — I perched up with one of their expertly crafted margaritas while waiting for my friend to arrive.
Once we were seated, we ordered another round of classic margaritas along with guacamole and nachos to share. The dishes were simple, shareable, and allowed us to focus on catching up while nibbling. As we talked, the restaurant gradually filled with small groups and couples, and by the time our waiter returned to take our order, most of the tables were taken.

Flavours that Pack a Punch
Santo Remedio’s menu is designed for sharing, with authentic dishes that let the ingredients do the talking. I love Mexican food, and I’d already scoped out the menu before I arrived, having eyed up several dishes I wanted to try. Our brilliant waiter added a couple of suggestions too, and I have to say he was spot on, picking out some hero plates.
We started with the pork belly tacos and seabass ceviche. The tacos were rich, perfectly seasoned, and packed with a soft pulled pork that was topped with a punchy salsa verde. The seabass ceviche, meanwhile, was hands down one of the most flavoursome I’ve had in a long time. It was bright, zesty, incredibly fresh and immediately transported me back to a beach side bar in Tulum. The portion sizes are substantial, and I’d recommend going easy on the tacos and share plates so you can save some room for a main course.
On the recommendation of our waiter, we opted for the 28-day dry-aged Hereford ribeye, served with pasilla butter and grilled spring onion, alongside grilled corn on the cob and Mexican rice. This is one of their showcase mains, and it didn’t disappoint. The beef was tender and full of flavour, while the smoky butter and lightly charred onion added subtle depth. It’s a dish that focuses on quality ingredients and simple, confident cooking, letting the meat speak for itself.

Why Santo Remidio is Worth a Visit
There are not many good Mexican restaurants in London so I feel like I’ve stumbled on a great place to indulge in my love affair with tacos. One of the best things about Santo Remedio is that its a real social experience. Between grazing on delicious sharing plates dishes, sipping on superb margaritas, and watching the ebb and flow of the restaurant, time seems to stretch in the best possible way. It’s lively enough to feel part of the city’s pulse but intimate enough to enjoy a relaxed conversation without distractions.
Service here is genuinely outstanding. Our waiter made us feel welcome from the start, offering fantastic recommendations and helping us navigate the menu with ease. That level of attention makes a significant difference, particularly in a restaurant where the focus is on sharing dishes and exploring flavours. It’s a warm, attentive service that perfectly complements the lively yet cosy atmosphere. All in all, Santo Remedio Marylebone is a must-visit for anyone looking for a taste of Mexico.
