Seaham Hall: Your Coastal Reset Awaits

Seaham Hall unveils stunning new suites inspired by its lush gardens. Experience ultimate luxury and tranquility in these exquisite retreats.

Our Editor in Chief, Laura Bartlett, dives deep into Seaham Hall’s new “Blue Health” spa experience. Is it the ultimate coastal escape?

Ah, Seaham Hall. The name itself conjures images of crashing waves, crisp sea air and unparalleled luxury. This grand dame of the Durham Heritage Coast has long held a special place in my heart.

This time, however, my solo sojourn promised something entirely new: an immersion into their recently launched “Blue Health” spa experiences.

Now, for a self-confessed spa aficionado like myself, Seaham Hall was already a haven. Their Serenity Spa, consistently lauded with awards (think Spa of the Year!), boasts an impressive array of treatments and facilities. But the “Blue Health” concept piqued my curiosity.  It focused on harnessing the therapeutic power of the coast – something Seaham Hall, with its dramatic cliffside location, naturally excels at.

This visit, I opted for the decadent “Blue Health Suite Sanctuary” package. Stepping into my Junior Suite with a Sea View, I was instantly transported. Floor-to-ceiling windows framed the endless ocean, the rhythmic crash of waves a constant lullaby.  Unpacking was swiftly forgotten as I debated the evening’s bath – a luxurious freestanding tub or a deep soaking tub with a view? First-world problems indeed!

Decision made, it was time to dive headfirst in to the spa where the real pampering began. Serenity Spa’s expansive haven of tranquility unfolded before me – hydrotherapy pools, an Asian herbal sanarium and a Zen Garden, all designed to melt away stress. The expertly trained therapists treated me to a rejuvenating 60-minute ishga spa ritual, a blissful combination of an invigorating back massage and a refreshing facial. To top it all off, a delicious immunity-boosting smoothie from Doctor Seaweed, a new spa partner, provided the perfect pick-me-up.

Post-treatment, a moment of pure bliss awaited. Ozone, the hotel’s pan-Asian restaurant, beckoned. Wrapped in my fluffy robe, I indulged in a leisurely lunch. The vibrant flavours and tranquil ambiance of Ozone provided the perfect complement to the spa experience. Lost in the pages of a good book, I savoured each bite, feeling utterly relaxed and rejuvenated.

As twilight painted the sky in hues of orange and purple, I savoured a delectable five-course meal at The Dining Room.  Later, lulled by the calming sounds of a specially curated “meditative playlist”, I drifted off to a restful sleep.  Waking up to a nutritious breakfast and the invigorating sea air, I felt utterly revitalised.

Seaham Hall never fails to impress. This time, the “Blue Health” experience added a whole new dimension to my stay. It’s a testament to the hotel’s dedication to innovation and guest well-being.

Since my visit, Seaham Hall’s allure has deepened with the recent unveiling of three exquisite suites. Inspired by the hotel’s enchanting gardens, these luxurious retreats offer an unparalleled escape into nature.

Designed by the visionary Louise James of Blackthorn Design, the suites are a harmonious blend of opulence and tranquility. The Milbanke Suite, a ground-floor accessible Executive room, pays homage to the hotel’s founder with an ‘Enchanted Everglade’ theme. Rich autumnal tones, complemented by sculptural furniture and natural accents, create a haven of warmth and sophistication.

For those seeking a wilder experience, the two Junior Suites transport guests to a ‘Midnight Wilderness’. Imagine fluid watercolour walls, velvet headboards adorned with cascading waterfalls, and a lush palette of emerald greens. These suites are an invitation to disconnect and reconnect with nature’s magic.

With their impeccable design and serene ambiance, these new suites elevate Seaham Hall’s already exceptional accommodation offerings. If you’re seeking a luxurious escape that nourishes both body and soul, look no further than Seaham Hall’s seaside sanctuary. You won’t be disappointed.
