See the New7Wonders of the world (and beyond) on one epic new trip

Contiki, the world’s leading travel company for 18-35 year old’s has launched an epic 82 day round the world trip which takes in all New7Wonders of the world. The New7Wonders resulted from a campaign launched in 2000 by philanthropist Bernard Weber to select the wonders of the world from a list of 200 existing monuments, with the winners announced in 2007.

With the launch of its latest trip, Israel & Jordan Uncovered – Jordan being the home to the ancient site of Petra – Contiki now offers trips for young travellers to all New7Wonders and has created the ultimate round the world trip to see them all.

Contiki’s new 7 Wonders trip departs in March 2019, spans seven countries, four continents and visits all New7Wonders of the world:

  • The Taj Mahal in India
  • Great Wall of China
  • Chichen Itza in Mexico
  • Machu Picchu in Peru
  • Christ the Redeemer in Brazil
  • Petra in Jordan
  • The Colosseum in Italy

This incredible trip not only visits the most famous sites and monuments in the world, it also allows young travellers to dive deep into each destination, spending on average 12 days exploring the country where each popular site is located.

Contiki’s 82 day 7 Wonders trip begins in Delhi on 24 March 2019 and wraps up in Rome on 13 June 2019 and is priced from £11,534 (from £15,000 including all international flights, starting in the UK, and pre and post trip accommodation). This includes entry into all New7Wonders sites, twin-share accommodation, 92 included meals, sightseeing tours of all major cities, a Trip Manager and Driver team, modern air conditioned coach transportation and 11 internal flights.

 

What’s on the cards over 82 days:

Taj Mahal – India

The trip kick-starts with a 12 day trip through India, where young travellers will visit the iconic Taj Mahal in Agra, the world’s most recognised mausoleum. Bucket-list experiences don’t end there – in India there’s also tiger-spotting in Ranthambhore National Park, rickshawing through the streets of Jaipur, relaxing beachside in Goa and city explorations of Udaipur and Mumbai.

Great Wall of China – China

Next stop is Beijing to visit the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall of China where travellers can explore the watchtowers and fortresses, and gaze out across the surrounding valley. Travellers spend 12 days exploring China, venturing on to Xi’an, Chengdu, Yangshuo and Shanghai where they will feast on dumplings and Peking Duck, take part in cooking classes, visit a Giant Panda Sanctuary and explore fascinating museums and traditional markets.

Chichen Itza – Mexico

The most famous and well-preserved ruins in Mayan history, Chichen Itza, is next on the agenda. A tour with a Local Guide will provoke questions about the Mayan calendar, the positioning of the sun and the connections between ruins around the country. The six day Mexican adventure continues with a few days in sunny Cancún, the beautiful city of Mérida and the thriving metropolis of Mexico City.

Machu Picchu – Peru

In Peru, travellers will gaze over the Sacred Valley from the lofty heights of Machu Picchu, the ancient Incan citadel built in the 15th century. Travellers will take a one day Inca trek, heading up to the 2,700m high Sungate Viewpoint before descending to the valley of Machu Picchu. Enjoy a guided tour of the site, taking in such wonders as the Temple of the Three Windows and Wayana Picchu (the peak you see in every Machu Picchu snap, ever). Spend the next few days exploring Cusco’s Spanish colonial architecture, the capital Lima, plus a special stay in an Amazonian eco lodge only accessible by boat.

Christ the Redeemer – Brazil

Ahead of ticking off perhaps South America’s biggest icon, the Christ the Redeemer statue, travellers will spend four nights in the buzzing Argentinian capital of Buenos Aires, diving into the Argentine food scene with steaks, pastries and ice cream on the menu. As night falls, travellers can try their hand at tango in the city where the dance originated. Contiki travellers will spend 18 days traversing Peru, Argentina and Brazil, before ticking off the fifth Wonder, Christ the Redeemer, in Rio.

Petra – Jordan

The ancient city of Petra is one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world. Travellers will explore the giant metropolis of tombs, monuments, and other elaborate religious structures which are carved into stone cliffs.
