The Amazing SilkyAir Flex by Silk’n

Our writer, Rachel McAlley, had never tried the SilkyAir Flex all-in-one hair dryer and styler by Silk’n—until now. Curious to see how it measures up to her trusty old hair dryer, she put it to the test over the course of a month. Could this styling tool really make a difference in her daily routine? And more importantly, would it be worth the switch for anyone looking to upgrade? Here’s what Rachel discovered.

I’ve been using my existing bright-yellow hair dryer for around five years; it’s a standard, hand-held, normal hair dryer. There’s nothing exciting about it. As long as it blow-dries my hair, I’m happy.

I opened the Silk’n package, and inside I found a storage case which contained all the styling tools that make up the SilkyAir Flex – my life was changed forever.

After switching from a standard hair dryer to trialling the SilkyAir Flex for a month, I immediately noticed that my long hair dried much faster. An added bonus is that the hair dryer itself is so much lighter to hold. I no longer need to spend ages drying my hair, and my arms don’t ache from the weight of the dryer. It is a win-win situation for me!

What’s Inside The Box

Silk'n SilkyAir Flex

You will find a black leather-esque carry case, which holds the hair dryer and five different styling tool attachments. The styling tools include two auto-wraps, a volumising brush, paddle brush, and a concentrator. The hair dryer can be easily transformed from the powerful hair dryer into an all-in-one styling tool. In addition, there is a user manual included in the carry case.

No matter which styling tool is used, your hair will have lasting volume, beautiful curls, and a sleek finish. The stylish black-and-rose gold dryer complements all the black attachments.

Hair Dryer

The hair dryer offers automatic temperature control from 39° to 90°, concentrated air flow, and flexible handling. Furthermore, there is a cool-shot function for immediate cooling of the hair tool. It has been designed for ultimate heat protection, measuring air temperature 50 times per second, automatically adjusting when it is too high. For convenience, there are three speed options along with an LED display to show the current heat.

One of the most essential requirements of a hair dryer is the length of the cable. Some cables are far too small to move around the room whilst drying the hair. The SilkyAir Flex has a fabulous 3m-long cable, which means there’s ease of movement whilst styling.

Auto-Wrap

Auto Wrap

The auto-wrap attachments are for defined curls on both sides of the face. There is a right auto-wrap barrel and a left auto-wrap barrel included. Offering automatic curling, the unique airflow ensures effortless styling your hair will evenly rotate around the barrel. Both are easily attached to the hair dryer and work seamlessly together.

Paddle Brush

Paddle Brush

Perfectly made for drying and detangling the hair, the paddle brush leaves hair smooth and silky at the same time. An excellent piece of kit for long hair that definitely helps to keep the hair straight. This is another easy tool to attach to the SilkyAir Flex hair dryer.

Volumising Brush

Volumising Brush

Being oval shaped means that the volumizing brush can reach the roots of the hair more effectively. It seriously gives the hair added volume with great bounce. Besides being extremely easy to attach to the hair dryer, it is also very easy to use. If volume is your goal, then this brush is exactly what you need.

Concentrator

Silk'n SilkyAir Flex Concentrator

As the name suggests, the concentrator focuses directly where you are pointing the hair dryer. It will concentrate on specific sections of your hair with speed, heat, and precision. Obviously, it is easy to attach to the main dryer, and they work in harmony together.

My Verdict

My overall thoughts are that the SilkyAir Flex reduces hair drying time than that of a standard hair dryer, and it is an ingenious piece of technology. The various heating settings are a brilliant addition, and having an LED screen helps you to see the exact temperature rather than guessing.

Having styling tools is an added bonus, meaning you will be able to get rid of any other tools you have, especially curlers or tongs.
