Have you ever visited the beautiful island of Nusa Penida? If not, then it really should be one to add to the must-visit list. This wonderful part of the world is located about 45 minutes from Bali by speedboat and is home to breath-taking viewpoints, stunning beaches and interesting rock formations. It also hosts a belter of a sunset too and for witnessing that, we can’t recommend Amok Sunset bar enough.

Amok Sunset bar is the best place to watch the sunset in Nusa Penida and is located on the west side of the island near the famous tourist hotspots, Crystal Beach and Angel’s Billabong. We totally recommend you start your day early and tick off the nearby Instagrammable spots before retiring to Amok Sunset Bar for a midday swim and a tasty munch. Hanging around for their happy hour is a must, as between 5pm – 6pm it’s buy one get one free on cocktails. It’s the perfect moment, sipping on delicious cocktails and enjoying the mega sunset views unfolding out in front of you!

Its beautiful decor is an equisite mix of the traditional ‘bale bale’ roofs and modern bamboo architecture making the look and feel of the main bar and restaurant quite spectacular. They also have 3 private bamboo nests where you can climb high and watch the sunset in peace – a special occasion type experience for sure! There is a minimum spend on those but the maximum is for 4 people which makes it easy to share the cost.

Also, it’s worth noting that the road down to Amok Sunset Bar is a touch on the ricketty side. The island’s roads need a lot of attention but just go slow and steady over those potholes and it you’ll be rewarded with some of the most breathtaking views (and cocktails) ever.

There really nothing better than a sunset bar that comes equipped with a swimming pool, insane views, delicious cocktails and a mouthwatering menu. And to be honest, here at HOC, that’s our favourite way to spend a spend any day!
