The Best View in York has a Major Make Over

At House of Coco we are massive fans of York, its a stunning city with a lot to do and on a summers day there is no better place to be. One of the cities best hotels has undergone a major refurbishment and design transformation across several of the hotel’s favourite bedrooms, creating a stunning backdrop to one of York’s best views.

The Four Star Best Western Plus Dean Court Hotel is just a few small footsteps away from the historical York Minster, with the front facing bedrooms of the Grade II listed building all having stunning and unparalleled views onto The Minster. To enhance this outlook for guests, the hotel will invest £500,000 over the next two years into transforming its bedrooms and overall hotel offering.

Drawing influence from the York surroundings, with a nod towards the 1920’s era with small Gatsby touches, the new bedrooms have become the perfect retreat for guests to relax and unwind in. Created by local interior designer, Carol Theobald, two bedrooms are now classed as suites, and have been renamed as The Langley Suite and Holgate Suite, thanks to their new style and glamour.

Simon Murphy, general manager of Dean Court Hotel, comments: “Our views of the Minster and onto Duncombe Place are the best in York, we are incredibly proud of them. This transformation and investment over the next two years enhances our offering even further, creating a wonderful experience for all our guests that will keep them coming back time and time again.”

Simon Murphy joined the Dean Court Hotel team just over six months ago. He brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge of the hotel industry and is keen to bring this expertise to the York city centre hotel. As a resident of York for the majority of his life, Simon is passionate about placing Dean Court Hotel and DCH Restaurant back into the heart of the York community and its residents.

Simon continues: “Following the floods in December, the city and its businesses were devastated. Three months on, it’s time that all local businesses and organisations come together to celebrate everything that is magnificent about York and its residents. The city is full of the best historical tourist attractions in the UK, therefore we need to ensure all our services and offering continue to be enticing and draws in the UK and international tourists. 2016 is the year to show the UK and the rest of the world how incredible and resilient York truly is.

“As a city centre hotel, it’s vital that we continually move forward. We cannot become complacent, guests and visitors will always expect more and we want to completely satisfy and excite them with our ever-changing and expanding service and offering.

“Our DCH Restaurant continues to offer a menu that is a true celebration of Yorkshire’s finest foods, making it one of the best in the city, all created by leading head chef Benji Thornton. And now with a selection of our bedrooms becoming suites, we truly feel Dean Court Hotel offers a one-of-a-kind experience for guests and residents of York. It’s an exciting time to be part of Dean Court Hotel and York, I look forward the next chapter of its journey.”
