There’s nothing like throwing yourself down a mountain with friends and family, and if you can do it somewhere as vast and beautiful as Alberta, please do it!

If you ski or snowboard, you know that the Canadian Rockies are the place to be for an epic winter adventure.

Marmot Basin, Lake Louise, and Banff are the three ski destinations in Alberta that you absolutely can’t miss.

Marmot Basin

Marmot Basin, nestled in Jasper National Park, is a hidden gem that boasts over 1,600 acres of terrain for shredding, including 91 runs and four terrain parks. With an elevation of over 2,600 meters, the snow stays in top condition all season long, making it perfect for intermediate and advanced riders looking for a challenge.

Lake Louise

Lake Louise, situated in Banff National Park, is a stunning resort that offers 4,200 acres of terrain for all levels of riders. The scenery is breathtaking, with views of Victoria Glacier, Lake Louise, and the surrounding mountain ranges. If you’re a beginner or looking for a more relaxed ride, this is the place for you.

Banff

Banff, one of the most famous ski resorts in the world, offers over 8,000 acres of terrain across three mountains. As a snowboarder, I love the challenging runs and backcountry skiing opportunities at Banff, not to mention the stunning natural beauty of the Bow Valley and surrounding mountains.

All three resorts offer a variety of services, from ski lessons to equipment rentals, and have excellent dining options. After a day on the slopes, you can even enjoy hot springs, ice skating, and snowshoeing. Trust me, these ski destinations are not to be missed.

Après-ski

After an action-packed day on the slopes, you can relax and unwind with some après-ski activities. Marmot Basin, offers a range of après-ski options, including live music, drinks, and snacks at the Caribou Lounge.

Lake Louise has an array of après-ski activities, such as skating on the frozen lake, snowshoeing, and even horse-drawn sleigh rides.

Banff, on the other hand, is famous for its hot springs, which are perfect for soothing sore muscles after a day of snowboarding.

Food and Drink

All three ski resorts have excellent dining options, from casual cafes to high-end restaurants, where you can indulge in delicious meals and drinks.

So, whether you prefer to dance the night away, relax in natural hot springs, or explore the scenic surroundings, you’ll find plenty of après-ski activities to enjoy at Marmot Basin, Lake Louise, and Banff
