Capital bracer Portobello Road Gin has announced the launch of it’s positively quaffable summertime pop-up ‘The Gin Market’, located at Unit 3, The Market Building, Covent Garden (former Chanel Boutique) in the heart of Covent Garden.

Opening Thursday July 7th until Saturday July 30th, Covent Garden visitors will be able to ‘Shop Their Perfect G&T’ at the novel bar with Portobello Road Gin’s knowledgeable buffs on hand to advise and educate in the art of an impeccable G&T serve.

Gin fans will be invited to create their own personalised G&T serve, choosing from an extensive array of delightful summer garnishes from Portobello Road Gin’s traditional heritage market stalls, with everything from Portobello Road Gin’s signature pink grapefruit & juniper berries combination to watermelon, strawberries, basil and starfruit. Each gin serve will be topped off with a choice of fine Fever-Tree tonics from Mediterranean to Sicilian Lemonade, home-made tinctures and refreshing mixers.

Favoured by the most discerning of gin fans, drinks will be presented in Portobello Road Gin’s signature Spanish-style serve – the Copa de Balón (also known as a large wine glass here in Blighty).

The balloon-shaped goblet captures the botanical aromas of the gin and when complemented with beautiful and elaborate garnishes it allows the nose and the palette to discover an exceptional gin-drinking experience!

Gin boffins from ‘The Ginstitute’ –  London’s hugely popular gin-making experience and museum will also be hosting exclusive and entertaining ‘History of the Gin & Tonic’ masterclasses every Thursday in The Gin Market’s secret basement.

What’s more, the chaps at Portobello Road Gin are giving ‘The Gin Market’ guests a one-off chance to win an exclusive trip to London’s finest address in gin, The Distillery, when it opens this winter. The Distillery will become the new home to Portobello Road Gin and The Ginstitute – London’s fabled gin-making experience.

You will be one of the first to join The Distillery’s marvellous gin connoisseurs to delve into the exciting (and often gruesome) history of gin. What’s more, you’ll be able to put your new found knowledge to good use by making your own unique blend of gin to take home. After the gin-making, head on up to The Distillery’s Spanish G&T eatery, GinTonica, before hitting the hay in one of the new venue’s exclusive boutique guest rooms.

All The Gin Garden’s G&T shoppers have to do is Instagram their most beautiful and striking ‘Art In A Glass’ with a backdrop or serve so unique it will blow the chaps at the finest address in gin away. Hashtag #ArtInAGlass and tag @portobelloroadgin so we can see it! The winner will be decided on September 1st 2016. Terms & Conditions apply, see below.

‘The Gin Market’ by Portobello Road Gin will open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 3-10pm and run until Saturday July 30th.

To kickstart your inspiration and create your own ‘Art In A Glass’ this summer, the gin gurus at 171 Portobello Road – The Finest Address In Gin –  have created an ingenious recipe with optimal cooling properties to keep you refreshed as the temperature rises this summer.

The Ultimate Copa Cool’ is a thirst-quenching G&T that has been specifically designed to sup in the sunshine and made with super-chilled tonic water and garnishes carefully selected for their cooling properties.

50mls Portobello Road Gin
200mls premium tonic water
Garnish with: cucumber strips, watermelon cubes, spearmint and green apple.
This drink is all about cooling down so the secret is in the preparation. Keep your gin in the freezer and place one dessert spoon full of salt in a bucket of iced water. Put your tonic water bottles in the bucket of iced water and place in the fridge with your garnish fruit and veg. Keep your Copa (or large wine glass) in the freezer.
When you’re ready, almost fill the glass with large cubes of ice, add the gin and slowly add the tonic – then use a vegetable peeler to cut long strips of cucumber, add 3 or 4 mint leaves and a similar number of watermelon cubes (you can prepare these in advance).  If you’re feeling really adventurous, top the whole thing with a fanned apple ‘parasol’ to keep the drink in the shade. Serve promptly.
