Yard & Coop Launches Crowdfunding Campaign

Yard & Coop has launched a Kickstarter campaign (9am on 1 November) and would love you to become part of The Home of Buttermilk Fried Chicken’s next chapter.

Renowned for its tasty fried chicken dishes with its infamous buttermilk recipe, Yard & Coop’s owners Carl and Laura Morris took hundreds of attempts to find the perfect combination, which to this day remains a closely guarded secret.

Not only hugely passionate about chicken, their company ethos revolves around the people within, whose career progression and happiness is fundamental when growing their brand. The mission to enrich the lives of their own team, through personal development training, bonus schemes and maximum 45 working hour weeks are what set them apart from many hospitality establishments today.

After being open in Manchester for four years and Liverpool for three, Yard & Coop is ready to spread its wings over the Pennines and open a brand new coop in Leeds, but, Carl and Laura are in need of your help to make their clucky dream a reality.

Carl explains more: ”When we opened in Manchester and Liverpool we invested everything we had (plus the rest from friends and family) into making our crazy idea a real restaurant. It really was all hands on deck, with Laura’s dad making our tables and us scouring car boot sales for furniture and the odd skip dive here and there for fittings.

“Now, we’re desperate to move into Leeds, and we think it’s time the people of Yorkshire get to taste the true Home of Buttermilk Fried Chicken. But getting the banks to support small businesses is hard, so this time we’re calling on our mates, fans and any future diners to become part of Yard & Coop’s next adventure.”

Yard & Coop’s Kickstarter campaign is live right now, with the restaurant needing to raise £50k in just 30 days. Lets do the maths, that’s £1667 a day, £69.44 an hour, £1.16 a minute, and this is where the Home of Buttermilk Fried Chicken needs your support.

Laura adds: “Manchester and Liverpool have made for an incredible four years, but even when things go well, sometimes you just need a helping hand. We love Leeds and we’ve even signed a lease on a really cool building, in our favourite area of the city, but now we just need some help with that final push.

‘’We’re hopeful we can rely on all our fans and future Chicken lovers to help us to the finish line.”

Whether you’ve got a cheeky spare £25 to a flush £1k, there’s a range of options for however much you can afford to, or would like to pledge. Plus, theres a tonne of rewards, from exclusive invites to opening parties, an ‘I own a Chicken Shop’ tee, to free chicken for a year and even for life, yes that’s right FREE CHICKEN FOR LIFE to enjoy in any and all of our restaurants, all depending on the level you can donate.

People keen to invest in their favourite chicken restaurant have just 30 days to sign up, with the campaign having an ‘all or nothing’ policy. If Yard & Coop does not manage to reach its £50,000 target in the time period, they will lose the entire investment, however close they are to the final goal.
