The minute you walk through the door at Titanic Spa, there is a calmness and tranquillity that wraps itself around you, and you instantly know that relaxation is moments away.
We sent our writer, Rachel McAlley for a 24-hour spa experience at this West Yorkshire spa, where she enjoyed every single moment. Plus, she also learned about the spa’s eco-friendly and sustainable heritage all whilst being pampered.
Titanic Spa: West Yorkshire’s Premier Eco-Friendly Retreat
Titanic Spa delivers an exceptional overnight spa experience in West Yorkshire, combining luxury wellness facilities with impressive eco-credentials established since its 2005 redevelopment. The spa pioneered renewable energy use through rooftop photovoltaic panels, energy-efficient lighting throughout, and a natural water source 100 meters underground supplying all pools, showers, and drinking water. Guests enjoy extensive facilities including heated indoor swimming pools, outdoor hot tubs, Himalayan salt saunas, crystal steam baths, and plunge pools. The heat and ice experience features herbal infusion rooms, aromatherapy spaces, and cold water therapy options.
Luxury Accommodation and Sustainable Dining Experience
Titanic Spa offers 33 luxury apartments with open-plan lounges, fully equipped kitchenettes, and continental breakfast hampers featuring locally sourced, organic, and fairtrade ingredients. Each apartment includes double bedrooms with private bathrooms, complimentary robes, and premium Elemis products. The onsite bistro serves exceptional meals using sustainable local produce, while the exclusive Bar1911 provides evening relaxation for overnight guests. Treatment options include 55-minute Elemis Pro-Glow Smooth Facials in dedicated treatment rooms. This comprehensive wellness retreat exemplifies eco-friendly hospitality with its No Plastic Initiative, biodegradable alternatives, and energy-efficient OTEX laundry system.

I arrived with my guest at 10:30am, checked-in, and we left our overnight luggage with the reception team, who offered to show us around the spa.
Firstly, we noted that there is a skincare store with hundreds of luxury products available for guests to purchase. Secondly, you will find an open-plan bistro where they serve breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. Thirdly, a long corridor leads to Bar1911, an exclusive evening bar that is solely for guests to enjoy on an overnight spa break.
Along the same corridor, there are changing rooms, treatment rooms, a relaxation room, and a heat & ice experience. Within the heat & ice experience, you will find an herbal infusion room, saunarium, aromatherapy room, crystal steam bath, and a Himalayan salt sauna. Furthermore, there are foot baths, an ice room, plunge pool, experience shower, and a Rasul chamber.
Back through the bistro, you will find an indoor heated swimming pool with poolside loungers, a sauna, steam room, and an outdoor hot tub.
The morning was spent in the heated swimming pool, and the heat and ice experience rooms. My favourite was the plunge pool as I’m a sucker for cold water therapy at the moment, whereas my guest couldn’t imagine being cold, so she enjoyed the saunarium and the Himalayan salt sauna. We both spent ages with our feet in the foot baths, where alongside a couple of other spa-guests we chatted about how relaxing Titanic Spa was.
Titanic Spa Bistro & Treatment

Our lunch was booked for 1pm, so we ventured into the bistro for an hour or so, where we tucked into Marinara Chicken Tagliatelle, and Tiger Prawn Tagliatelle. Both were great dishes, but the Tiger Prawn pasta was insanely tasty. We ordered a couple of side dishes too including a bowl of Green Olives and a side of Tenderstem Broccoli with garlic, chilli, and pine nuts.
The overnight spa break included a treatment, so I tried the Elemis Pro-Glow Smooth Facial, which I was booked in for during the late afternoon. I filled out a health questionnaire before being taken into one of the treatment rooms for my facial. My facial was 55-minutes of pure luxury and relaxation and included Elemis products.
After spending the day swimming, hot tubbing, and generally enjoying every element of Titanic Spa, it was time to collect our luggage and head to our room. However, before calling at reception, I wanted to learn more about the spa’s eco-credentials.
Titanic Spa – A Green Building

Titanic Mill, which was redeveloped in 2005, set new eco-build standards within the spa industry. The first spa to use renewable energy through solar panels on the roof, better known as photovoltaic panels. These roof panels convert daily external light into electricity, meaning that everything electricity-wise comes directly from this source.
All the windows throughout the entire mill are Low U value, so that thermal mass during the summer heat doesn’t overheat, and the draughts are eliminated during the colder months. They retain a good temperature across winter so that guests are comfortable all year round.
Again, the building boasts energy-efficient lighting within every room, and most appliances are also energy-saving. In 2018 Titanic Spa launched a No Plastic Initiative whereby they stopped using single-use plastic bottles, cups, and straws, they simply replaced them with biodegradable alternatives. In fact, their straws are made from seashells, and the cups are all reusable.
The spa recycles as much as possible; for example, the spa brochure is made from recycled paper, and the ink used within those brochures is made from vegetable ink dye. One of the greatest features is the use of water throughout the spa as all water comes from their very own natural water source. 100m underneath the spa is the spring from where the water is sourced.
That water is used for the plunge pool, salt regulated swimming pool, all showers, the ice experience, and also all drinking water. Furthermore, they have an onsite laundry, an OTEX system, which leads in the use of energy and efficiency. It washes every towel at a cool temperature, delivers ozonated water, and leaves the laundry 100% disinfected.
For an added sustainable aspect, Titanic Spa sources only local food, plus organic, and fairtrade where possible to make into delicious meals within their bistro. This is one of the best eco-friendly spas in the UK.
The Accommodation at Titanic Spa

We collected our room key and headed to a large 2-bedroom luxury apartment — with open plan lounge, corner windows allowing light from all sides of the building, and a balcony with view. The dining table was set for dinner and was positioned at the back of the living space — a very well-thought-out space with loads of room.
The kitchenette had everything needed including all crockery, cutlery, and glassware as well as appliances and a hamper filled with continental breakfast for two. A hamper can be found in every one of the 33 apartments and offers cereal, juice, milk, yoghurt, pastries, and much more for each guest.
Both the apartment bedrooms had double beds and their own bathroom with complimentary products. There were robes and plenty of towels for use. We couldn’t have asked for more.
Dinner at Titanic Spa Bistro & Bar1911

Back in the Bistro for dinner, our package included a 2-course dinner, but we decided to add dessert and paid for this as an extra. The food is really very good at Titanic Spa, and we couldn’t fault a thing.
Between us we ordered Honey and Soy Salmon and Cream of Garlic Mushrooms to start. The salmon was delicious, and the pak choi that it was served with was cooked perfectly. Our main dishes consisted of Roast Pork Belly and Pan Seared Seabass — the pork was served with roasted potatoes and the seabass with buttered new potatoes. Both of these dishes were tasty, but the seabass had the edge, especially with the asparagus and capers that it was served with.

We both ordered a non-alcoholic cocktail to enjoy with our food — an Elderflower & Passionfruit Bellini and a Raspberry Bellini — so good and sparkled beautifully!
For dessert, even though we didn’t need one, we chose Sticky Toffee Pudding with Butterscotch Sauce and Caramel Apple Pie. Honestly, the sticky toffee pud was to die for! The sauce set it apart from any other sticky toffee pudding.

Post dinner we headed to Bar 1911 for a couple of drinks, whilst chatting for hours in the comfy seats, where we could have easily stayed all night. However, it was time for bed before having breakfast, packing, and checking out of our luxury apartment.
Our 24-hours at Titanic Spa was absolutely wonderful. Everything from the food and the treatments to the staff and the spa facilities were second-to-none. The apartment was extremely comfortable and had everything we could have wished for.
