UK Bookings Soar Amidst Royal Celebrations

Here at House of Coco we love to travel in the UK and we have a penchant for historical breaks so that we can learn about the history of our country. Now it seems like we are not alone as Heritage city breaks are one of this year’s biggest travel trends according to short break specialist, SuperBreak, with bookings boosted by the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations.

A recent customer survey* by the short break specialist revealed that historical cities Edinburgh and York, in addition to London, are this year’s top choices for a short break. And thanks to the Queen’s 90th birthday, bookings for London breaks are even higher than usual. The travel company has reported that bookings for the weekend of the royal celebrations almost doubled year on year.

Jacquie Fisher at SuperBreak said: “Our UK short breaks are always popular but this year’s extra special Royal celebrations have definitely had a positive impact, especially on our London bookings.

”With so much to do and see whatever the weather, city breaks are always a great choice for a getaway so why not head away to one of the UK’s many fantastic historic cities this summer?”

To inspire those choosing a short break and to test how well the nation knows their Abbeys from their Minsters and their palaces from their palladiums, SuperBreak has developed its brand new ‘Where in the World’ quiz, where players are asked to identify well-known landmarks both in the UK and abroad. With categories including ‘royal’ and ‘historic’ – you can test your knowledge of your favourite holiday destinations here.
