#CocoCountryside : UK Weekend Break

If you are looking for some ‘me time’, and fancy a break in the countryside, then Shropshire is quite the perfect county.

Ludlow known for it’s famous castle, also plays host to lots of cobbled and ancient streets filled with independent boutiques, arts and craft emporiums, plus many cafes, restaurants, pubs and even a micro brewery. It is the perfect place to spend a weekend shopping, eating, drinking and enjoying the countryside.

The House of Coco team was invited to experience the wonderful Fishmore Hall in the rural market town of Ludlow. We sent Rachel McAlley, one of our UK travel writers to see what treats awaited her at Fishmore Hall and their brand new Fishmore SPAshell™.

Fish more Hall Hotel

Fishmore Hall

Fishmore Hall, a whitewashed Regency-style boutique hotel, nestled amongst the autumn falling leaves of surrounding trees and acres of fields, where the only sound that could be heard was that of the rare breed cattle in a nearby farmer’s field, instantly meant it was time to relax.

Check-in was super quick, very efficient and wonderfully friendly, and the reception team couldn’t do enough to help. Room 4 on the first floor was to be the base for Rachel, from where she could explore the grounds, have a sneaky peak at the brand new Fishmore SPAshell™ and mooch around the hotel at her leisure.

Fishmore SPAshell

The bedroom was big, bright and open, with creaking uneven floorboards which gave an almost old-worldly feel, and a great sized bathroom with grand walk-in shower, steps leading up to the bath, complimentary Elemis luxuries and a glass encased candle. Gorgeous!

Bedroom at Fishmore Hall

The bedroom had a hidden corner with wardrobe, office desk and chair, tea & coffee making facilities, kettle, and a mini fridge filled with locally sourced goodies such as Ludlow nuts, Shropshire Cider and local water, plus Nespresso machine.

The decision was taken to experience room service for dinner. White onion soup with truffle oil to start, followed by beer battered plaice with twice cooked chips, and the chefs cheeseboard was then taken as dessert. All in all it was a very well put together room service tray, with excellent service, and very tasty food.

Room Service

After a wonderful sleep in the largest of beds, the morning beckoned. Breakfast in the hotel restaurant was a lovely experience with excellent service once again, and fabulous Eggs Benedict which were cooked to perfection.

It was time for a treatment in the newly opened Fishmore SPAshell™ and the excitement was palpable.

The spa itself was designed by renowned designers Spa Creators, a UK based specialist spa design consultancy, and is a sleek urban style which sits perfectly in the grounds of Fishmore Hall.

A 30-minute massage was taken within the serene treatment room at Fishmore SPAshell™, which followed an hour of relaxation in the self-setting sauna and steam rooms.

Relaxation Room

The technology to be found in the thermal cabins; sauna and steam room was like nothing seen before, with personal rain and breeze settings, music, lighting and ambiance settings, plus preferred temperature buttons, it really was an exciting experience to be part of.

The spa also has an outdoor wellness pool and oversized hammock to sit back and relax, four treatment rooms, sun loungers throughout the spa, and a decking area for quiet contemplation. A truly beautiful, unique, dainty, well thought out spa.

It was time to checkout of Fishmore Hall and head back to reality!
