Veeno Italian Wine Cafe Showcases Wines Produced in Sicily

Last week House of Coco were invited to sample the wines on offer at the Veeno Italian wine cafe  in Leeds.  Veeno were showcasing the brand’s heritage by featuring its wines that are only produced on the Italian island of Sicily.

Veeno Italian wine cafe opened its shop 2 months ago at 7 Duncan Street, Leeds and last week hosted its first Veeno to Vineyard Wine tasting event. This was an exciting and vibrant evening which also included a taste of the cafe’s winter food menu.

Nino Caruso, co-founder of the Veeno brand hosted the event and provided descriptions of the wines as they were served.

This wine tasting included 4 Sicilian bottles;

  • Terre di Giumara Grecanico: This was described as a very balanced wine made with Sicilian grapes.
  • Sicani Nerello Mascalese Rosato: This wine was described as very drinkable and fresh, born directly from the earth of Sicily: the Volcano Etna.
  • Terre di Giumara Frappato Nerello Mascalese: This was described as a smooth and full bodied wine, with some mystery behind the Frappato grape which is said to be from the Iberian Peninsula.
  • Marsala: This was described as an authentic Sicilian wine born in a local vineyard in Marsala, Sicliy.

Our Editor Laura and Lifestyle Editor Jo had a great time sampling the wines and meeting the passionate team from Veeno.
