Vegan Beauty Must-Haves to Pack in Your Carry-On

vegan beauty must haves

Whether you’re attempting to go vegan, or just trying to switch over to a more sustainable, cruelty-free makeup and skincare routine, you may find it tricky to source products that are not only animal-free but against animal testing too. Vegan beauty is on the rise, with more and more consumers shunning animal-based products and seeking out alternatives. It can however feel like a bit of a minefield if you’re new to the world of cruelty-free. With so many hidden ingredients – from lanolin (lamb’s wool) in your mascara, to beeswax in your lip balm and shellac in your nail polish.

There are a fair few ingredients to watch out for on the packaging, but luckily our resident vegan (hey!) has the perfect list of cruelty and animal free products to pack in your carry on…

Eden Perfume No.483 Pomegranate Noirre

Finding vegan and cruelty-free perfumes can be a challenge, with many of the well-known brands owned by large global cosmetic companies with less than perfect ethics, most of which test on animals for the Chinese market. Eden perfumes are a 100% vegan perfume brand with a wide range of beautiful fragrances, and the best bit is they’re also available in 10ml so you can easily slip one into your carry-on! Pomegranate Noirre is a classic; think warm, fragrant spices and fruity notes.

Green People Aloe Vera & Prebiotics Deodorant

Deodorant is a travel must-have especially if you’re flying long-haul and need a quick freshen-up. This refreshing roll-on features anti-bacterial properties and it’s alcohol-free with 90% organic ingredients. The formula is also suitable for those who suffer with skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

Evolve Radiant Glow Organic Mask

Flying can leave your skin feeling less than healthy, so make sure you pack the perfect pick-me-up with the Evolve Radiant Glow Organic Mask. Formulated for all skin types, this mask is blended with raw cacao powder and clay to revitalise and leave skin feeling smooth, moisturised and calm. Made with all-natural ingredients, the mask is eco-friendly and free from any toxic chemicals too.

Dermalogica Prisma Protect

This well-known skincare brand is completely cruelty-free, with many of their products also suitable for vegans. The Prisma Protect is a must-have all-rounder, the light-activated moisturiser hydrates skin and protects from sun damage with SPF 30. An essential when jetting off into the sunshine.

Hurraw! Coconut Lip Balm

The low humidity in airplanes can cause nightmares for your lips, and leave them feeling dry and sore. Alongside drinking plenty of water, make sure you pack a nourishing lip balm to nurse your lips back to full health. The Hurraw! Coconut Lip Balm features an ultra-hydrating formula infused with Jojoba seed oil, Cocoa Seed Butter and Coconut Oil. Plus, it smells delicious!

The Body Shop Mango Cleanse Hand Gel

Ensure your hands are kept clean and germ free whilst on-the-go with this mango scented hand gel from The Body Shop. The perfect size to slip in your handbag, and an essential if you want to avoid those lingering flu bugs.

Lush Angel Hair Shampoo Bar

If you’re looking to reduce your single plastic usage and shop ethically, solid shampoos and shower gels are a great place to start with your toiletries. Lush offer a fabulous range of vegan, plastic-free haircare, including their popular Angel Hair Shampoo Bar. Created with Aquafaba (chickpea juice – but don’t let that put you off!) to add shine, and witch hazel to soothe the scalp.

Korres Wild Rose Day Cream

This fast absorbing, high-performance water cream is ideal for skin that’s in need of an injection of hydration. Designed to brighten and restore skin tone, this cream will leave you feeling extra beautiful. Travelling can cause even the healthiest of skin to dry up, so pop this in your cosmetic bag to be on the safe side.

pai Hello Sunshine Sensitive Sunscreen

Ingredients such as beeswax make many sunscreens unsuitable for vegans. The pai Hello Sunshine Sunscreen is both cruelty-free and vegan approved! Suitable for sensitive skin, the mineral and plant formula work to protect and repair skin from sun damage. It’s also non-greasy so you won’t end up with half of your make-up sliding off by midday. Never ideal.

Green People Rejuvenating Eye Cream

Soothe tired, jet-lagged eyes and battle puffiness with Green People’s Rejuvenating Eye Cream, designed to nourish delicate skin. The Tara Bush and Seaweed extracts work to lock-in moisture for long-term hydration.

Now you’ve given your makeup bag an animal-friendly upgrade, it’s time to enjoy that trip with a clear conscience.
