Read all about House of Coco’s digital toolkit of travel-enhancing apps.

With a multitude of apps aimed at adventurers and travel fanatics on the market it can be overwhelming knowing which to download before your next trip – but with a bit of research you can pack the perfect digital toolkit to enhance all your travel experiences!

Ulyss

Described as an “A.I Travel Expert” Ulyss asks you a series of set questions and uses your answers to determine a number of destination suggestions.

Upon opening the app you’ll be asked a sequence of 13 questions, such as whether you’re travelling alone or in a group, what is your budget, how many hours do you want to spend on a plane, how touristy do you like it – all of which are presented in the form of cute illustrations and fun animations. Your answers are then analysed and ideal destinations for breaks and holidays are suggested based on your determined ‘travel type’. It’s great for discovering new destinations that venture out the go-tos and done-befores.

Google Maps

This seems like an obvious suggestion but while everyone has heard of Google Maps and most people use it to navigate from A to B, not many travellers are using it to its fullest potential. The app can be used for way more than getting quick directions! You can create your own maps and saved places by dropping pins in specific locations and selecting the ‘save’ option. This is great for planning in advance, as you can save all the locations you want to visit in one place. You can even share your map with others – ideal when travelling with family and friends!

LoungeBuddy

LoungeBuddy provides a comprehensive guide to airport lounges around the world; telling exactly what is hidden behind the doors every traveller wishes they could walk through! The app outlines which lounges can be accessed for free and even allows you to gain entry to lounges with one-off payments making those premium spaces accessible for all.

Trover

If travel photography is your thing then Trover is the app for you. Keen photographers and avid adventurers upload amazing shots from all over the world and caption them with how they achieved the photo and tips for visiting that destination. If you’re looking for some inspiration on places to visit or photos to take then this is the place to find it.

xCurrency

When you’re in an unfamiliar country and not very good at mental arithmetic it can be difficult to understand exchange rates and keep track of what you’re spending. xCurrency allows you to select your home currency and up to three other currencies and then you simply tap in the price of an item/ service and see the conversion result with live exchange rates (it does also work offline).
