Your Next Travel Bucket List: 2023’s Brand New Casinos

Traveling to land-based casinos may seem like a thing of the past, but the industry is still thriving.

Traveling to land-based casinos may seem like a thing of the past, but the industry is still thriving. In fact, in 2023 so far alone, ten new casinos have opened up across the world. There’s more coming over the next few months, too, such as the Queen’s Wharf Brisbane casino and resort opening at the start of August in Queensland, Australia. If checking out these new locations is something you’re interested in, keep reading to learn about 2023’s newest casino resorts.

What’s Open and What’s Coming Soon?

1. Santan Mountain Casino (Chandler, Arizona)

Arizona’s latest casino opened in Chandler on June 30th, 2023, and it defies the traditional design for a casino. Rather than dark colors and no windows, the Santan Mountain Casino is 90% windows, with gamblers able to admire the rising and setting of the sun and the desert vegetation outside like cacti. The casino’s walls have also been decorated by local artists, paired with hand-painted ceilings that resemble wood panels. In terms of games, the 160,000-square-foot casino offers more than 800 slot machines and 25 table games. The Santan Mountain Casino will also include a high-limit section in the casino.

2. Great Canadian Casino Resort (Toronto, Canada)

On June 20th, 2023, Canadian gaming leader Great Canadian Entertainment opened its new casino, the Great Canadian Resort, in Toronto, Ontario. The new casino, which boasts a 328,000-square-foot gaming space with more than 4,800 slot machines, will include a 400-room hotel and a 5,000-person entertainment venue. While online gambling has become progressively more popular in Canada and other countries, with games like Jackpot King slots offering players unique bonuses for various games that they can play on different devices, such as Eye of Horus, an Egyptian-themed slot game, the $1 billion investment by Great Canadian Entertainment into this new Toronto casino demonstrates that both online and offline gambling are popular within this industry.

3. Durango (Las Vegas, Nevada)

Las Vegas is the epicenter for all things gambling, and in October 2023, the city will get another hotel and casino to add to its roster. The hotel and casino, named Durango, is being built near the Las Vegas Beltway, and it will feature a more than 80,000-square-foot casino and a 15-story tower with over 200 rooms. Durango will also have several restaurants where gamblers and hotel guests can wine and dine. While the project still has months before coming to life, many people will be excited for the grand opening in October as the project has been in the works since 2009 but was halted for various reasons, such as the Great Recession.

4. INSPIRE Entertainment Resort (Incheon, South Korea)

Another casino, hotel, and live entertainment venue is opening in October 2023, but this time, it’s in Incheon, South Korea. Promoted as Korea’s newest integrated entertainment resort, INSPIRE Entertainment Resort will include a 5-star hotel with over 1,000 rooms and suites and a premium casino with 800 slots. The resort will also include Korea’s first multi-purpose performance area with 15,000 seats and a water park.

The gambling industry has transformed over the years, blending an online world with the traditional brick-and-mortar casino and hotels. While online gambling has become increasingly more popular due to the game selection and bonuses offered, the land-based casino market is still growing, with 2023 seeing the grand opening of many extravagant new casino resorts well worth checking out.
