What inspired you to transition from a career in science and pharmacy to founding Heirloom Beauty? Was there a defining moment that sparked this journey?

I’ve always been deeply passionate about skincare and committed to finding safe, high-quality products that deliver real results. When I turned 35, I noticed changes in my skin that made me realise how difficult it was to navigate a saturated market filled with ineffective products and unclear information. I felt there was a real need for a skincare line that people could genuinely trust—one that prioritised both safety and effectiveness.

The turning point came in 2023, during a challenging time that made me confront some tough questions about my life and purpose. It was a stark reminder that life is too short to not pursue what truly matters. That moment of reflection fuelled my decision to launch Heirloom Beauty. I wanted to create a brand that cuts through the noise, offering a straightforward approach to skincare that families can rely on for their diverse needs. Heirloom Beauty is my way of bringing meaningful, science-backed skincare to everyone, with products crafted to preserve and enhance the natural beauty of all ages.

Heirloom Beauty uniquely blends nature’s purity with scientific innovation. How does your scientific background influence the formulation of your skincare products?

My scientific background is integral to every formulation and product offered at Heirloom Beauty. It guides our approach to creating skincare that truly works. Partnering with a team of highly qualified experts, we meticulously select the highest quality ingredients and tailor our formulations to address the specific skin needs of each age group. We believe that skincare, much like healthcare, requires precision. It’s not just about using the right ingredients, but also ensuring they’re at the right concentrations for targeted results. Before any product reaches our customers, it undergoes rigorous testing, including dermatological evaluations for both safety and efficacy. As a pharmacist, this level of scrutiny is non-negotiable for me because I believe in delivering products that are both safe and truly effective.

As a mother, how did your personal experiences with your children shape the development of the PRESERVE line for teens and tweens?

When I first started Heirloom Beauty, our focus was primarily on anti-aging products for women my age. We developed the RP Glow Complex and formulated the REVERSE Antioxidant Glow Serum—a powerful vitamin C serum designed to reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation, fine lines, and wrinkles. However, things took an interesting turn when our hero product came home, and my tween daughter, who is part of the Sephora skincare-obsessed teen trend, was eager to try it out and share it with her friends.

This experience made me realise there was a gap in the market for effective skincare solutions specifically tailored for younger skin. Teens and tweens need products that are both safe and effective, without the harsh ingredients that can damage their still-developing skin. That’s when I decided to create the PRESERVE line, designed to protect and nurture the skin barrier for younger users. As a mother, I wanted to ensure that my children—and all young people—have access to skincare that respects their unique needs, setting them up for a lifetime of healthy skin.

Heirloom Beauty emphasises the importance of intergenerational beauty rituals. Can you share a cherished beauty ritual passed down in your family that inspired this philosophy?

Growing up in a South Asian family, beauty rituals were an integral part of our culture, often centred around natural ingredients from the kitchen. Traditions like oiling our hair, applying turmeric, lemon, and yogurt masks, and even making sugar wax were passed down from my mother and aunties. These rituals were more than just beauty practices—they were moments of bonding, learning, and self-care that connected us across generations.

This deeply influenced Heirloom Beauty’s philosophy that skincare should be a meaningful part of our lives, fostering connection and self-love across all ages. It also reinforced my belief in the power of natural ingredients. Just like the traditional practices that inspired me, our products are rooted in nature and science, offering potent ingredients like lycopene, which is derived from the heirloom tomato, one of our key ingredients in the RP Glow Complex. The name “Heirloom” reflects both these generational connections and the timeless wisdom of nature.

The name “Heirloom Beauty” carries a sense of legacy and heritage. How do you see your brand contributing to the legacy of beauty in the years to come?

At Heirloom Beauty, we strive to create a lasting impact on the beauty industry by honouring the values of heritage, quality, and sustainability. The name “Heirloom” embodies more than just tradition—it signifies the passing down of wisdom, care, and the commitment to using safe, effective ingredients across generations.

As we look to the future, we envision Heirloom Beauty becoming a trusted household name, renowned for products that people not only love but also rely on as a core part of their daily routines and family rituals. Our goal is to continually innovate while staying true to our roots, seamlessly blending nature’s powerful ingredients with scientific expertise to cater to the evolving needs of our customers. At Heirloom Beauty, we blend efficacy with sustainability by choosing natural, ethically sourced ingredients that are both effective and gentle on the skin. We also prioritise eco-friendly packaging and reduce waste through recyclable materials and conscious manufacturing practices. Our goal is to create skincare that not only delivers results but also respects the environment, ensuring our products contribute positively to both our customers and the planet.

The REVERSE and PRESERVE lines cater to different age groups. How do you approach creating products that meet the unique needs of each generation?

At Heirloom Beauty, we recognise that skincare isn’t one-size-fits-all. We approach each product line by understanding the specific skin concerns and needs of each age group. The REVERSE line focuses on effective concentrations of active ingredients to target signs of aging and rejuvenate mature skin. The PRESERVE line, designed for teens and tweens but suitable for all ages, emphasises gentle, protective ingredients that maintain the natural skin barrier and address concerns like breakouts, sensitivity, and hydration. By tailoring our formulations to each generation’s unique needs, we ensure our products are safe and effective, providing the best care for every age group.

We conduct thorough research to find innovative ingredients and solutions that address these concerns. As the founder and a pharmacist, I work closely with a team of experts to create formulations using the highest quality ingredients and rigorous standards. Each product undergoes extensive testing to ensure safety, efficacy, and quality—both before and after launch. Our goal is to deliver products that our customers can trust, backed by science and tailored to their needs.

Overcoming these challenges has strengthened my commitment to creating a brand that prioritises customer education, safety, and results, ensuring that every product genuinely supports the health and beauty of our customers’ skin.
