Laura Bartlett found herself venturing westward on a recent solo trip.  This time, her destination was the idyllic enclave of Chiswick, a charming London neighbourhood she’d never explored before. Stepping out of the Uber, Laura was instantly captivated by the vibrant energy of Chiswick High Road.

Chiswick Calling: My Solo Escape to Room2 Chiswick Hometel

Okay, so confession time. Until recently, Chiswick was a total blank spot on my London map. I’m a Northerner so that’s my excuse. But listen, all that changed with a spur-of-the-moment solo trip and a stay at the incredible Room2 Chiswick Hometel.

Stepping out of my Uber (I’m not about that tube life), I was met with this infectious energy – Chiswick High Road was a treasure trove of cute boutiques and independent stores. Two bookstores later (because, priorities!), I stumbled upon this ice cream place called Duci. Let me tell you, that might just be the creamiest, dreamiest gelato I’ve ever encountered.

But the real star of the show? Room2 Chiswick itself. The lobby was buzzing – comfy armchairs, sleek tables and everyone seemed happily plugged in, working away. It had this cool, communal vibe that instantly made me feel welcome, even as a solo traveler.

Sustainable Chic

Now, Room2 Chiswick isn’t just about aesthetics (although, let’s be honest, the place is seriously stylish).  They’re big on sustainability and as a conscious traveler, that’s something I really appreciate.  Knowing it’s the world’s first net-zero hotel is pretty mind-blowing, but they’ve managed to make it feel fun and approachable, not preachy at all.

A Room With a View (of Local Craftsmanship)

Speaking of rooms, mine was a modern dream. The furniture was all handcrafted by local artisans, which added this lovely personal touch. Plus, the kitchenette was perfect for whipping up light meals (hello, midnight cheese board!), and the bathroom had these ridiculously luxurious toiletries that made every shower feel like a spa experience.

Celebrating Chiswick’s Soul

But what truly sets Room2 Chiswick apart is how it embraces Chiswick itself. The whole design is inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement, which felt like such a cool nod to the neighbourhood’s rich heritage and artistic spirit.

Solo Bliss

Leaving Room2 Chiswick, I felt totally refreshed and ready to take on the world (or at least explore more of Chiswick’s delightful high street!). Whether you’re a solo traveler like me looking for a sustainable stay, or a Londoner craving a charming weekend escape, Room2 Chiswick is the perfect spot.  It’s a comfy home base for exploring Chiswick’s unique character, and trust me, that ice cream at Duci is calling your name.

Rooms at room2 Chiswick start from £129 per night for 2 people staying in a snug room. For more information, please visit www.room2.com/chiswick/
