Fancy some excitement? Try your luck at spotting the biggest animal in the world! The shoreline of SLO CAL (San Luis Obispo County) is a hotspot for whales with California gray whales, blue whales and humpback whales being the most commonly spotted species.
From March to May, whales can be seen heading north along Highway 1, with popular viewing locations at Avila Beach, Pismo Beach, Shell Beach and Morro Bay. Alternatively, for a closer sighting, charter a boat, with several companies offering whale-watching tours in Avila Beach and Morro Bay.
