As an avid traveler, I’ve always believed in the power of exploration and forming my own opinions about new destinations. So, when I set foot on the sun-kissed island of Lanzarote, I was prepared to be pleasantly surprised, disregarding the tales I had heard about rowdy tourists and crowded resorts. Little did I know that my stay at Lanzarote Retreats would not only defy all expectations but also redefine the meaning of a truly remarkable vacation.

Nestled on the breathtaking Canary Islands, offers an unparalleled experience that transcends the ordinary. Under the caring guidance of a family-run company, this retreat stands as a testament to the island’s beauty and charm, having been their cherished home since 1985. With an impressive selection of holiday accommodation, including the renowned Eco Village and an array of villas, cottages, and apartments, Lanzarote Retreats ensures that every aspect of your stay is meticulously crafted to deliver an unforgettable experience.

During my visit, I had the pleasure of staying at Villa Palacio and Yurts – a private luxury villa set on the mountainside of Tabayesco with uninterrupted views out to sea on the North East coast of Lanzarote. The Palacio Estate features three separate accommodations, in one. The Villa Palacio consists of 6 bedrooms followed by 3 x Palacio Yurts and the Garden Bedroom, making a grand total of 10 bedrooms. Situated on the outskirts of the tranquil village of Tabayesco, just minutes away from the quaint little village of Arrieta with its fabulous golden sand coastline known as ‘Arrieta Bay’. This strikingly modern ‘home from home’ villa offers breathtaking panoramic views of Arrieta’s coastline and overlooks the Atlantic Ocean.

We were fortunate enough to have the entire place to ourselves, allowing us to feel like queens in our very own castle. Villa Palacio and Yurts set the stage for our exclusive retreat, providing a backdrop of unparalleled beauty. From the moment we stepped foot on the property, we were enveloped by the embrace of the mountains and greeted by the breathtaking expanse of the majestic Atlantic Ocean. The tranquility of the surroundings worked its magic, instantly melting away the stresses of modern life and inviting us to immerse ourselves in pure serenity.

Every corner of the villa exuded an aura of elegance and sophistication, leaving no doubt that our Interiors Editor, Siobhan Murphy, was enamoured with the impeccable style and attention to detail. The interiors seamlessly blended luxurious comfort with captivating aesthetics, offering us a space where we could unwind, relax, and wholeheartedly embrace the sheer beauty of our surroundings.

Speaking of indulgence, our daily routine was enriched with rejuvenating wellness and yoga sessions that added an extra layer of tranquility to our stay. While Lanzarote Retreats offers private sessions tailored to guests’ needs, we were fortunate to have our dear friend and resident wellness guru, Gina, with us. Her expertise and guidance helped us unwind and achieve a state of deep relaxation. Surrounded by the serene ambiance of the villa’s surroundings, we effortlessly tapped into our inner balance, fostering a profound connection with our bodies. To our delight, we also discovered that indulgent massages were readily available, providing the perfect opportunity for pampering and complete rejuvenation.

Beyond the villa’s borders, Lanzarote Retreats continued to exceed our expectations. The nearby Eco Village, Finca de Arrieta, beckoned us with its warmth and hospitality. At the Info Hut, a friendly team member was always on hand to answer our queries and assist with booking activities. We were also thrilled to find an Honesty Shop, a testament to the retreat’s commitment to creating a sense of community and shared experiences.

Venturing beyond the retreat, we embarked on sightseeing adventures that showcased the island’s rich culture and natural wonders. Recommendations from Lanzarote Retreats led us to iconic attractions such as Jameos del Agua, Mirador del Rio, and Jardín de Cactus, all masterpieces created by the renowned artist César Manrique. We also took the time to explore the hilly interior of the island at Tabayesco and Haría, uncovering hidden gems that left us in awe of Lanzarote’s diverse landscapes.

The level of personal service provided by Lanzarote Retreats was unparalleled. From arranging airport transfers and providing a hybrid car for our convenience to the thoughtful gesture of dinner with the son of the owners, Josh, who took us to a local restaurant, every detail was attended to with utmost care. It was evident that their dedication extended far beyond the mere concept of hospitality—they genuinely wanted us to feel like cherished guests.

In our three nights at the villa, we revelled in the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation. We hopped into the provided car and embarked on thrilling journeys to Lanzarote’s hot spots, immersing ourselves in the island’s vibrant culture and breathtaking landscapes. Yet, we equally cherished the moments spent within the walls of the villa, where peace, tranquility, and a touch of luxury embraced us.

Lanzarote Retreats stands as a beacon of unrivalled luxury, where the mundane is left behind, and unforgettable experiences are woven into the tapestry of your journey. It’s a retreat that defies expectations, a sanctuary where beauty, wellness, and heartfelt service converge to create memories that will last a lifetime. So, if you seek a destination that transcends the ordinary, Lanzarote Retreats is undoubtedly the ultimate place to stay—a haven where dreams come alive and the spirit of Lanzarote takes hold of your soul.
