Adding a touch of adventure to the South of France with Ford

The South of France.

July 16th, 2019

The South of France. Commonly known as a holiday destination for the glamorous; those who love to lounge on super-yachts whilst sipping on a glass of Provence Rosé wine (and we don’t blame them!)

But despite its reputation, behind the facade you’ll find a rugged landscape framed by the sparkling blue of the Mediterranean sea and the magnificent height of the Alps. The perfect combination for a holiday filled with adventure…and a little glamour.

With the launch of Ford’s brand new Focus Active, the team thought it the perfect opportunity to demonstrate the versatility of the South of France in a car designed for those who lead an active, adventurous lifestyle.

Unique styling details deliver a distinctive, versatile and rugged character for the Focus Active inside and out. Essential when driving around the winding streets of the Cote d’Azur. The rough-road capability enhanced with new Slippery and Trail Selectable Drive Modes made tackling the rugged terrain a piece of cake, leaving you in complete control at every twist and turn.

The adventure began as soon as we touched down in Nice, France. Getting behind the wheel of an automatic Ford Focus Active in Orange Glow, we began our first 45 minute drive to the small suburb known as Villefranche-Sur-Mer, taking in the sights of the famous Promenade des Anglais in Nice and smaller villages before reaching our destination.

Here we prepared ourselves for a spot of kayaking. Taking to the water, in teams of two, we conquered our first challenge, before jumping back in the car for our next adventure which was slightly more inland.

The car climbed the uphill roads with ease, providing us with a faultless drive up to Tete de Chein, where we dabbled in a spot of abseiling. It’s safe to say many fears were concerned that afternoon.

The cherry on the top of this adventure was the epic view of Monaco from the top of Tete de Chein. We could see the super-yachts bobbing in the water, the fast cars whizzing through the streets and endless rooftop pools sitting comfortably upon their high-rise, luxury apartment blocks. There was our little slice of glamour during this adventurous trip!

Experiencing the car in this environment made it evident that the new Ford Focus Active is for the life lovers; those who love to see and experience the world around them.

Whether it’s taking a long drive into the countryside, or climbing up the mountain for epic views and a spot of lunch – this car will be there with you every step of the way (or should we say every roll of the tyre!?)

Its five-door hatchback and wagon body style design, makes this car completely versatile, perfect for both city life and adventurous life. As Roelant de Waard, vice president, Marketing, Sales & Service. Ford of Europe explains: “The all-new Focus Active does more than just look the part – its bespoke chassis and new Selectable Drive Mode options deliver genuine rough-road capability for families who want to explore off the beaten track.”

Compact enough to take on the streets of the city (much like those in Nice), but sturdy enough to tackle that rugged terrain which we really experienced driving up those French mountains!

Style, versatility and practicality join together to create the Ford Focus Active. A car ready and waiting to take you anywhere your heart desires, and one where the drive from A – B will be as much of an experience as the destination.

Ford had us driving all around the French Riviera, from coastline to inland, experiencing all things adventure from abseiling, kayaking to mountain biking; a far cry from the ‘go-to’ holiday in the South of France.

Forget lounging on the beach, and find your sense for adventure with Ford. We promise you won’t regret it!
