Do you consider yourself something of a culture vulture? Read on for the lowdown on Las Vegas’ most Insta-worthy installations.

Sin City may be renowned for its unapologetically outlandish aesthetic – think neon palm trees… Elvis impersonators… and more glitter than Coachella and Mardi Gras combined – but did you know it also has a seriously high-brow art scene?

Don’t worry! There are no dusty galleries filled with tedious still lifes here. Instead, you’ll find highly immersive, futuristic experiences that unite people, technology, and art.

So without further ado, let’s explore the wonderful world of art in Las Vegas!

Las Vegas Arts District

The residents of Downtown Vegas love art so much that they created a whole district for it! This trendy area is a must-visit for anyone looking to purchase a piece of world-class artwork for their collection.

Nestled among the indie galleries, charming stores, and open studios, you may be surprised to find something a little racier.

Burlesque Hall of Fame:

Sequins and star quality – burlesque has been a much-beloved art form in the States since the 1860s when the working class simply couldn’t get enough escapism and entertainment. Today, fans of all things glam and retro can explore the history of the striptease through hundreds of lovingly curated photos, posters, and artifacts. The craftsmanship of the vintage costumes will take your breath away!

Soaring sculptures

You know what they say, go big or go home!

So here are the colossal pieces you won’t want to miss.

Seven Magic Mountains:

Standing over 30 feet tall, these vivid towers are a feast for the eyes. Peacefully residing over the Ivanpah Valley and nearby Sheep Mountain since 2016, this breathtaking bunch is worth the 10-mile trip out of town and will add a serious pop of colour to your travel pics!

Bliss Dance:

In 2010, Marco Cochrane captured a beautifully fleeting moment of dancer Deja Solis mid-routine and immortalised it in a spellbinding 40-foot statue. Today, she can be seen ‘following her bliss’ in the park beside NYNY, where technicolour lights illuminate her at night.

The Big Edge:

Picture this: a bouquet of 200 canoes suspended in mid-air as though clutched by an invisible hand. That’s what art-hungry wanderers can expect to find at Nancy Rubin’s breathtaking 75-foot installation, which has been brightening visits to Vegas’ City Center development since 2008.

And the best part? These sculptures are not only awe-inspiring, they’re free to visit!

A whole new world

Ever wished you could step inside a piece of art? Well, now you can! Prepare to get up close and personal with some mind-boggling masterpieces.

Meow Wolf’s Omega Mart:

A supermarket as you’ve never seen before – this kaleidoscopic wonderland is filled with twists, surprises, and imaginative rabbit holes to fall down. You’ll feel like a kid again in this surreal, playful hidden gem in Las Vegas’ Area 15.

Museum of Dream Space:

Museum may be a bit of a stretch for this one, as visitors are typically in-and-out in under 20 minutes, but if you’re looking for somewhere to have a fun photoshoot, it’s not to be missed. Watch out for half-price tickets, and show off your cutest holiday fit among hundreds of colourful bulbs, hypnotic digital art, and tactile spaces.

Illuminarium:

We’re heading back to Area 15 for this one. Mother Nature is arguably the greatest artist of all, and here, you can view her creations in a whole new light thanks to the wonders of technology. So enter deep space, head out on safari, and explore the universe’s origins while keeping your feet firmly on planet Earth!

Neon Museum:

Less a museum and more a boneyard of iconic Las Vegas signage, this non-profit organisation is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the city’s most legendary art form: neon. The 2.25-acre site is home to over 250 meticulously restored signs, a visitor’s center in the former La Concha Motel lobby, and daily light projection shows in the North Gallery. This one’s popular, so book early and get your glow on!

So there, you have it – our rundown on Vegas’s hottest, artsy picks.

Pack your chicest turtleneck and beret, and soak up all this masterpiece of a city has to offer!
