Most people are familiar with the three types of holiday or vacation living situations: apartments, condos, and townhouses. But what they may not know is that there are different types of each of these, and each one has its own set of conveniences and drawbacks. For instance, the apartment can be furnished or unfurnished. You will want it furnished if renting for a short holiday or stay. Perhaps looking at the luxury holiday apartments Washington, DC has to offer. Luxury and the association with holidays is an indication that they will be furnished and have all the modern conveniences.

In this article, we will explore the different ways to live, however long your time in a city, and look at their respective pros and cons.

Apartments

Apartments offer the most space and the best amenities but tend to come with a high price tag. This tends to be because apartments are often found in larger cities, close to prime locations, and offer travelers or temporary residents a chance to live in a more luxurious setting. Apartments typically have security features and often come with a doorperson.

Typical amenities we can expect with many apartments include:

  • Furnished apartments (useful for short-term stays and holiday lets).
  • Apartments with conveniences – e.g. washer/dryer in unit, dishwasher, etc. (Ideal when looking to spend more time enjoying the surroundings than doing chores).

If you are looking to stay longer than just a few weeks, furnished apartments can be seen to take away the hassle of finding furniture to fit the apartment that you are renting. If we are renting it for a short time it is cost-effective not to buy furniture that might not fit our next situation.

To add conveniences to our apartment are to have appliances already installed and not have things as basic as when just camping. Although, camping can be quite a high-tech way of life these days. The appliances in apartments can be the very latest and have us wonder how we ever managed without such technology back at home.

Condos

The next type of housing situation is the condos. These are typically more affordable than apartments when renting for longer. They, however, offer less space and fewer amenities. They tend to be a good option where budgets are tight. That is holiday or relocation budgets.

Most of us like to spread out, whether we are alone or living with others. If we need to work while on holiday or from our home space, we will want a space to call our office. In our leisure, we will want to lounge about rather than feel cramped and confined to one chair. The extra room an apartment allows will, instead, mean that we can invite people around for a party. Respect any letting rules, though,

Townhouses

The last type of housing we are to talk about in this article is the townhouse. Townhouses are similar to apartments but often have more outdoor space, such as a backyard or patio. They can be found in both urban and suburban areas and offer residents or those renting for any length of time a chance to have their own private space while still being close to the conveniences of the city attractions.

On holiday, it is great to feel at home with a private garden space as well as have all the other attractions to see. If renting a townhouse for longer, then you should note that the outdoor space will mean more for us as busy individuals or families to take care of.

There are a few options to consider when looking for holiday accommodation, which can be dependent on location, and how we want to spend this temporary period. The longer we are to stay, the more amenities and space we are likely to want. If we are always on the go and travel light and have less to store, we can perhaps get away with a smaller space. Apartments are proving very popular as holiday places to stay when we have no long-term plan.
