Khana Bombay Café, opening in Headingley, Leeds on 10th February, is totally different from
any Indian restaurant you’ve seen before. This is not your typical, stuck-in-the-70’s ‘curry
house’ and there’s not one picture menu in sight; in fact, Khana Bombay Café blows all
stereotypes of Indian restaurants right out of the Tandoor with its quirky, stripped back
vintage decor, casual all day-dining and cosmopolitan vibe.
Having grown up in a family of restauranteurs and being of Indian descent, Adam Karim
understands the importance of authenticity when it comes to food and a great dining
experience.
Adam, founder of Rosso restaurant (co-founded by Rio Ferdinand), and owner of Don
Giovanni, Manchester’s longest serving Italian restaurant, make the opening of Khana
Bombay Café a highly anticipated one.
“Khana incorporates the sense of the Bombay community in food” says Adam, so we can
come to expect a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, and mouthwatering fragrant cuisine. On the
menu are classic Indian staples such as the Ruby Karim which is more commonly known as a
Makhani curry from just £6.50. Also on the menu are small Indian tapas style items to whole
and half grilled Chickens as well as Lamb Chops, all smothered in Indian spices and charcoal
grilled in the open kitchen. Expect to find delights such as apple samosas and real,
traditional Indian food which really set Khana Bombay Café apart from what we would
expect at most UK Indian restaurants.
As well as an extensive restaurant area, there is also a laid-back lounge bar serving
handcrafted cocktails designed by Leeds’ The Hedonist Project and local craft beer. Make
sure to ask for one of the Karram boards to play with; a traditional Indian game like table
top pool that will have everyone vying for a place on the cafe’s leaderboard and as if our
expectations for this venue could not be exceeded further, there’ll even be a DJ taking care
of music from Thursday- Saturday night.
Khana Bombay café will be offering a massive 50% off all food for the first 2 weeks by
booking online at www.khanabombaycafe.com.
