Introducing you to The Greenway in Gloucestershire

If you are looking for a dreamy countryside retreat on the fringes of the Cotswolds, consider The Greenway for your next staycation. Located close to the Regency town of Cheltenham and the stunning spot of Crickley Hill, the Bridgerton-esque Greenway (part of the Eden Hotel Collection) upon first glance looks like a historical landmark from a romantic novel.

As you drive down the sweeping entrance drive which is shrouded by trees, you are greeted by an impressive 16th century manor house made of classic Cotswolds stonework, tall chimneys and gables nestled in eight acres of lush grounds. It’s fairly remote, but the quaint town of Cheltenham is just a matter of minutes away by car.

Having recently undergone a renovation in excess of a million pounds, our quest for a stylish sojourn was quickly realised. The hotel has a real majestic feel and effortlessly blends elegance and rustic charm without ever being pretentious or tacky.

The hotel only hosts 21 rooms which are all individually decorated. 13 of the rooms are housed in the main building of the hotel and there are a further 6 in a nearby old coach house. We stayed in the sumptuous Manor Four Poster room which was an absolute delight.

Every detail is carefully throughout from the sumptuous super king four poster bed to the luxurious bathroom with its roll top bath, once you check in, you may never want to leave.

Decorated in soothing hues of white and grey, the super spacious room (which is basically like a suite!) is the epitome of serenity and opulence and it has the best views in the entire hotel of the rolling lawns complete with delicious-smelling lavender and the surrounding Cotswolds hills which are captured via the old casement windows.

You can even gaze upon those rolling hills from the privacy of your bathroom which along with an expansive roll top bath, also has his and hers sinks, a rainfall shower and an enviable selection of nourishing and relaxing Temple Spa toiletries.

The Greenway’s location makes dining a wise choice and you would not want to miss out on the spectacular food that is served. Foodies will love The Garden Restaurant an award-winning 4 AA Rosette eatery which serves up seasonal menus with an impressive selection of dishes most of which have been carefully-crafted with ingredients sourced locally.

Choose from dishes like an octopus terrine, English beetroot or garden tomatoes to start which are all revitalising on the palette, followed by a light summer pea risotto, spring lamb rogan josh or a sea bass with a saffron and potato risotto for a main course.

You can also eat brunch and lunch at the restaurant at the spa which has a collection of quirky Champagne bottles adorning the walls for lighter bites and you can also partake in a traditional afternoon tea in the garden or the exquisite sitting room.

And talking of the spa, this area has reaped the benefits of the recent investment with a relaxing thermal suite, sauna and steam room. There’s also a great swimming pool, and al fresco hot tub which also has some sun loungers nearby for the ultimate R&R experience.

From the croquet lawn to the log fires, every aspect of the Greenway will bring a smile to your face and if you are looking for a luxurious weekend away complete with excellent food, then the Greenway ticks all the boxes and more.
