Stella is a creative genius, her flare for design means that she can help you make your brand stand out, for all the right reasons. As someone who always dreamt of having her own business, she is now very much living her dream. Here, she chats to us about her career highlights, plans for the future and gives us an insight in to her journey as an entrepreneur…

Tell us about the journey that lead you to where you are today
I started my journey back in college four years ago. As I was getting my bachelors degree in design, something in me started desiring more. I wanted more to life than to just go to college, and end up with a job. I wanted to bring something into the world that would allow my creativity to shine. I started my business by posting projects on social media. At first I was just creating and posting for the fun of it, but was encouraged as people began approaching me to help them create meaningful projects for their needs. This is exactly the boost I needed to turn my passion into a business!

Looking back over your career, what has been a highlight?
My greatest moments in business so far have been when I see my clients eyes light up with joy. Whether it’s a logo, a wedding invitation or whatever it may be, these projects are meaningful to people and something they will cherish. That is special to me.

It was always your dream to start your own business, what advice would you offer to anyone else looking to start out in your field?
I would encourage them to take the hard steps into the unknown! It can be intimidating to put your work out there for the whole world to see, but it is the only way to start. You may just be taking your first step to your dream life.

Being a designer can be quite competitive, what do you do to make sure your work stands out?
I put my heart into it. I try to create unique designs from scratch that meet the needs of my client by listening to the vision of their brand. Being a designer is competitive, but you can’t compare yourself. Each designer has a unique taste and style. Comparison is the thief of joy, and can stop a creative flow if you let it!

What has been your proudest moment to date?
I get inspired by connecting with my clients and hearing their heart and vision on whatever they need designs for. If I am creating wedding invitations I love to ask clients what their dream wedding looks like so I can reflect the client’s unique details for their wedding within the design. I do this for anything I am creating weather its branding someone’s business, coming up with a logo, website design, or anything else.

Our readers love to travel, what destination do you have at the top of your bucket list?
I love traveling and seeing the world. I would have to say France, South Africa, London, India, and China, are at the top of my list! So, just a few…

What does self care mean to you?
Self care to me means creating a lifestyle of good habits that can help with positive thinking. Mental health is important, especially as an entrepreneur in the business world. Making sure to treat yourself here and there can go a long way.

Outside of work you enjoy time with your family, what else do you do to switch off from work?
Outside of work, I love to workout and have recently been upping my fitness game. I have noticed my thoughts are healthier and I feel more confident when I check that workout off my list. I also have a strong Christian faith and love to spend time reading the Word of God. Spending time in the Word always help to refresh my mind and brings more peace to my life.

What does 2020 look like for you?
In 2020 I want to expand. I want to grow more in my brand awareness, and increase my client portfolio. I specifically want to keep learning, and offer only the best to my clients.
