Do you want to be a little kinder to the environment? Then you’ll be looking for everyday items that will help you to live a greener lifestyle.

Perhaps, you have already swapped buying plastic bottles for reusable ones and have purchased a metal straw. Maybe you have fabric shopping bags so you don’t have to buy a plastic one every time you pop to Tesco. You might even be using beeswax food wraps.

But, what about your phone? They might not be particularly eco-friendly themselves but did you know there are plenty of eco-friendly smartphone accessories available?

Many companies that produce these sustainable products think about their entire impact on the environment, so will consider this in everything from their packaging to charities they work with or donate to.

If it’s not something you have considered yet, here are six you might need:

1. Speaker

We all use our phones to listen to music and podcasts, sometimes on the go with headphones but often remove these when sitting around with friends or while doing other things around the house. Then you, of course, want to make the sound a little louder which is where plug-in speakers come in handy. But, with this wooden smartphone amplifier you don’t need that. The eco-friendly wood simply amplifies the sound and therefore doesn’t need a power source. It can also be used inside or outside – bonus!

2. Headphones

Whether you prefer on-ear, in-ear or wireless headphones, this smartphone accessory can be eco-friendly too. Many of these are made from bamboo or reclaimed wood – a material that actually provides better acoustics than plastic – so it’s a win-win!

3. Phone case

According to GQ, an eco-friendly phone case uses non-toxic materials and is made from the likes of bamboo or cork because it is natural, sustainable and biodegradable. Biodegradable plastic and recycled plastic is included in this too. Check out the best ones it has listed here.

4. Wireless charger

As we have our phones glued to our hands and use them 24/7 they tend to run out of charge before we get home and plug them in. Wireless chargers are perfect for keeping your phone turned on all day long but many are not eco-friendly. Nimble, however, have changed this including one that is created using recycled water bottles and organic hemp. Check it out here. According to Mashable, they ‘could be the new reusable straws.’

5. Phone Holder

Whether at home or in the office, phone holders are an ideal place to store your phone and enable you to see the screen when you want or need to be hands-free. You’ll find phone holders made of material such as bamboo. Not only are these eco-friendly, they look super smart and stylish too.

6. Charging cable

The charging cable can also be eco-friendly – while these aren’t currently 100% eco-friendly, they tend to be made from a percentage of biodegradable materials. Don’t worry, they are MFI certified to ensure your smartphone is charged safely.

So, which ones are you going to get to help make your smartphone a little more eco-friendly?
