The festive season is full of food, gifts, and spirit, which come with all the parties and dinners to attend, both for work and with family and friends. Whether you’re going to the office Christmas party, on a festive night out with friends, or the family Christmas dinner, you want to look your best.

Here are 7 tips to have you feeling totally glam this festive season:

1. Keep hydrated

While this is not your standard beauty tip, it’s an important one to follow. Staying hydrated will keep your skin clear and prevent unwanted breakouts, plus you’ll feel good getting your daily eight glasses of water (chilled water is especially great during these hot summer months). You can easily keep hydrated by choosing to be designated driver or simply staying away from alcohol at this year’s festivities. If you are drinking, have a glass of water between alcoholic drinks

2. Brighten your eyes

While Christmas parties and dinners are fun to attend, if you are attending or hosting a lot of them, they can be tiring. One way to avoid looking fatigued is by brightening your eyes. This can be done by completing pre-make up steps, such as moisturising or using concealer, then applying your eye make-up first. Putting on your eye make-up first prevents any eyeshadow or powders from getting on your face or clothes. In terms of a colour scheme, you can’t go wrong with glittery eyeshadow as it’ll really make your eyes pop.

3. Keep your lips looking luscious

If you want to be able to enjoy the delicious food and beverages on offer at Christmas parties and dinners, but still want your lips to look luscious, there are a variety of ways to achieve this. Firstly take a little pre-lipstick care by applying a lip balm, before applying a lip liner to prevent your lipstick or gloss from bleeding out onto your skin, and then add your lipstick.

There’s no rule against wearing lip gloss instead of lipstick, however it’s going to be hard to maintain your look and enjoy the food and beverages on offer if your lip gloss keeps coming off. If you want to keep things simple, you can’t go wrong with a matte-coloured lipstick, or you could coordinate with your eyeshadow and go glittery.

4. Master the easy hairstyles

If you’re time deprived but still want your hair to look fabulous, mastering easy but classic hairstyles is the way to go. Messy buns and sleek ponytails are fast ways to pull your hair up, while also looking put-together. Messy buns can be executed in three steps: bring your hair into a high ponytail, twist the strands and wrap at the base of the ponytail, then secure the bun with an elastic band or bobby pins. Sleek ponytails take four steps: shampoo and condition your hair, blow dry it smooth, pull your hair into a high ponytail, and finish it off with hair spray.

5. Shine those pearly whites

As well as keeping your lips luscious, you should also try to keep your teeth shining bright. The festive season is filled with sugar, alcohol and a whole heap of food. If you don’t look after your teeth, this could mean staining, cavities and sensitivities, which you don’t want, especially when you’re having photos taken. To keep your teeth shining bright, stick to a strict brushing and flossing routine before your Christmas parties and dinners, and for a little extra brightness, you could try a whitening kit.

6. Rosy up those cheeks

It never hurts to rosy up your cheeks and make them glow. You can easily achieve this look by mixing complementary blush colours, specifically one light and one dark colour, starting with the lighter shade and layering the darker shade over it. Remember to pick a blush that works for your skin tone, use a good quality brush to apply it, and follow your face shape.

7. Have fun!

Again, this is not your standard beauty tip but another important one to follow. While the lead up to Christmas and all the parties and dinners you have to attend may be stressful, once you get there, it’s time to have fun. If you’re relaxed and enjoying yourself, it will show – your skin will be glowing and your smile will radiate and draw other people into your orbit, which could provide the opportunity to make new friends.

Following these simple beauty tips you will definitely have you looking glam for this year’s Christmas parties, family dinners and festive nights out. Happy holidays!
