Fed up of covid-19 related news flashing up on your phone? Or, perhaps stories about people arguing over pasta and pictures of empty supermarket shelves are making you sigh. In these tricky times, an influx of positivity is much needed and there is a lot of it going around if you look in the right places. From free drinks for NHS staff to toilet paper donations and former footballers offering their hotels, free of charge, to health workers, light in this dark period is a’ plenty, and scrolling on Instagram can show that too.

The founder of @thefemalecollective, Candace Reels, created her uplifiting Instagram page to support self-love and solidarity among not only women but also the LGBTQ+ community. On the page, which digs deep into empowering themes, you’ll find a whole laod of sunshine, in the form of brightly coloured, positive quotes. The account has now amassed a following of 579,000 all there to celebrate women and to feel uplifted each day.
Upworthy, found on Instagram at @upworthy, regularly shares positive news with its 914,000 followers. The account boasts the tagline: “Delivering you the best of humanity since 2012,” and you can be assured that they do just that. Posts include a granddad meeting his grandson for the very time through a window, as a result of social distancing, as well as some of the funniest isolation videos, tips and tricks to lend a helping hand.
Holla ladies! Girl Boss is the account with all the sass and savviness you need right now. Popping with colour, this IG is all about fun slogans, laugh out loud videos and some seriously relatable sayings. Give them a follow at @girlboss
Found on Instagram at @goodnews_movement, this account was initially set up when the founder was at home with the flu. Now, tackling a bigger flu than we’ve seen before, the account has become more important than ever, and shares daily updates on the positive ways in which the world is responding to Covid-19. From NBA stars donating money to staff no longer working, to an Italian pretending to be a DJ in his kitchen using his hob, there’s a whole load of joy to go around on this account.
If you love positivity and you loved puppies then you’ll want to head over to @happsters. Oozing happiness, this Instagram page posts amazing mantras and every Friday there puppies – pawfect! If that doesn’t bring you joy then we don’t know what to tell you!
