Searcys is popping the corks by partnering with some of the best British zero-alcohol drinks, Pentire and Wild Idol to offer alcohol-free alternatives across its venues this January.

Celebrating the best of British, these no-alcohol offerings perfectly complement Searcys’ carefully selected list of Champagnes and English sparkling.

Searcys’ 2024 Dry January Menu includes two fitting twists on refreshing summer classics. Simultaneously sweet and sour, the Pentire Paloma is sure to dispel the doldrums of winter. The Pentire Coastal Spritz is blessed with a bracing burst of Cornish salt that offsets the quintessential bittersweetness. Wild Idol is hand-crafted using traditional winemaking techniques and a superior blend of grapes for the finest aromatics and purest flavour. A long-time partner of Searcys, Wild Idol’s ingredients have never included alcohol. The production process is simple and pure – ideal for those searching for a New Year detox. Vegan, low calorie and gluten-free, the result is a sparkling drink of the highest calibre, delivering supreme taste without compromise.

Pentire mocktails will be available at Searcys Barbican restaurants (Barbican Brasserie by Searcys and Barbican Bar & Grill), Brigade Bar and Kitchen, The Pump Room in Bath, Carlton Brasserie and Searcys Champagne Bar at 116 Pall Mall, Searcys Brasserie at St Pancras International and The View at the Royal College of Surgeons. Meanwhile, Wild Idol will be served at Searcys Champagne Bar at Battersea Power Station and St Pancras.

For those wishing to elevate their new year even further, an alcohol-free afternoon tea at Searcys at the Gherkin, enjoyed alongside dramatic 360-degree views, will ensure January has all the glamour and excitement of a new year. Priced at £55 per person, the signature Searcys Sparkling Afternoon Tea can be paired with Wild Idol Non-alcoholic Sparkling Wine from 3rd January until 11th February. From delicate cucumber and cream cheese to indulgent smoked salmon and caviar sandwiches, followed by a tantalising array of sweet pastries and scones, Searcys Afternoon Tea at the Gherkin will ensure no one is compromising on those special moments this Dry January.

With the days getting lighter and summer just around the corner, where better to cleanse from winter over-indulgence and get your glow back than at London’s newest no/low alcohol bar. Hospitality trailblazers The Initiative bring us their latest opening, Shaman in Leman Locke Aldgate.

Shaman is set to shake up London’s hospitality scene in 2020. Shaman has been created with healing, rejuvenation and self care in mind. The space is serving up a selection of fresh juices, pastries created by renowned chef Robin Gill, coffee and low/now alcohol drinks, ready to shift the assumption that bars can only be enjoyed with alcohol. Each fresh Shaman juice has been designed to improve gut health, increase energy levels and reduce stress levels. The space is also an Instagram dream with bright coloured drinks, cascading pot plants and pretty pastels.

The space is multi-functional, friendly and fresh with health and vitality as the order of the day. The cocktails were more delicious than any alcoholic drink we had ever tried. The Lavanderia was sophisticated and refreshing and the Vermuteria was punchy and warming. Afterwards we ordered a drink to go. We opted for the ‘skin glow’ juice was much needed after a long winter without a tan, and without turmeric.

Located in Aldgate East at the Leman Locke Hotel, Shaman combines effortless service with exquisite interiors, envisaged and executed by award-winning interior design agency, Grzywinski + Pons. Shaman is open to the public from 7am – 10pm to keep guests energised and hydrated all day long.

Whether you are celebrating with a partner, hosting a Galentine’s Day (it’s a thing) drinks party or simply looking for a delicious libation to get you through the festival of romance, Don Papa has created the perfect cocktail for every type of Valentine’s Day.

As the 14th February approaches, Don Papa Rum has designed the Kanlaon Kiss cocktail, a fruity, easy-to-make serve for those celebrating the occasion at home.

Each cocktail is made with the signature Don Papa Rum for people looking to switch from gin or fizz and fall head over heels for something a bit different. The cocktail features a smooth and delicate finish that is light and fruity on the nose with distinctive flavours of vanilla, honey and candied fruits. Kanlaon Kiss harnesses the free spirit of Sugarlandia, the island home of Don Papa Rum.

The Kanlaon Kiss takes its name from Mount Kanlaon, the active volcano found in Don Papa’s lush birthplace of Sugarlandia (local name for the island of Negros). Designed to accentuate Don Papa’s fruity flavour and smooth finish, the Kanlaon Kiss combines Don Papa Rum with floral notes of rose and an exotic and refreshing punch of guava and lemon juice. Serve this colourful cocktail over ice and garnish with 3 drops of Bitter Truth Aromatic Bitters. donpaparum.com

Method and ingredients:

In a mixing vessel, combine (in the order shown):

7.5ml rose syrup (Monin/Giffard)

30ml guava juice

7.5ml lemon juice

45ml Don Papa Rum

Add ice (5 cubes; to cover liquid) and shake (20 seconds), then strain into a chilled Coupe glass and garnish with 3 drops of Bitter Truth Aromatic Bitters.

And voilà!

The London Cabaret Club invites guests to ‘Gatsby With Love’ this Valentine’s Day. The Great Gatsby Valentine’s dinner and show is set to transport guests to the glamorous 1920s, fit with sumptuous food, mischief, tassels, champagne glasses and world-class performances. This bespoke show and immersive fine dining experience, is created especially for Valentine’s romancing by London Cabaret Club artistic director Doni Fierro.

Cabaret goers can immerse themselves into F. Scott Fitzgerald’s world renowned love story and feel as if they are a party guest at Gatsby’s mansion. The varied acts at the show will be performed to heart-soaring songs such as Lana Del Ray ‘Young and Beautiful’. All will be played out against the lavish backdrop of the 1920’s Art Deco Bloomsbury Ballroom with its high-reaching ceilings, intimate seating areas, ornate windows, spectacular bar and commanding marble entrance. The event is ideal for an extravagant and interactive date night with a partner or a girlie and glamorous Friday night out.

Now in its 6th year, The London Cabaret Club originally launched as a pop-up within the Chelsea Arts Club in July 2013, followed by sell-out residencies at One Mayfair and The Collection in South Kensington, before moving in to their permanent home within beautiful art deco settings of The Bloomsbury Ballroom, a stunning venue perfectly situated between The City and The West End. Their winning formula of original choreography and unparalleled production with unrelenting attention to detail makes it one of the capital’s most exciting nights out.

Ahead of Valentine’s Day we met with the CEO and Founder of The London Cabaret Club and asked her about the upcoming show and what she loves the most about her job…

What led you to work in such a fabulous industry?

Following business school in Sydney, I spent some time working in management consultancy and finance in London then moved to New York to continue further study in the Arts. I then became a huge Broadway theatre enthusiast. My working life subsequently took me to London, and here I fell in love with the West End. With my love of musical theatre and experiencing the social scenes of both London and New York, I felt there was a gap in the market to create an new unique experience in London which would entail a combination of excellent theatre style entertainment combined with a high end dining experience – and so The London Cabaret Club was born!

What sets the London Cabaret Club apart?

The first thing that sets us apart is our permanent residence at The Bloomsbury Ballroom. It is an amazingly beautiful art deco building between the City and the West End that is perfect for our performances and the atmosphere there really enhances our shows.

The second, is the quality of our shows. To date, The London Cabaret Club shows have been centred around a range of quintessentially British themes. For example our show ‘Queen Of Roses’ celebrates Britain’s female monarchs. ‘Hats, Heels & Horses’ focuses on a day at the races and our current show ‘Gatsby with Love’ transports guests into a decadent 1920’s party, inspired by the Jay Gatsby, the great anti-hero in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel. We offer interesting and very entertaining themes which change seasonally to keep customers coming back. The London Cabaret aims to become an icon of London which appeals to our own residents as well as visiting tourists.

What is the usual crowd at the venue?

The crowd reflects the rich diversity of the city of London. It’s not unusual for celebrity clientele to attend our shows – visitors and fans have included famous figures as varied as Simon Cowell, Millie Mackintosh, Darcy Bussell, Louis Walsh and Olivia Colman. We also have some wonderful loyal fans from all walks of life who love to return to experience the different shows that we host throughout the year.

Why does it make the ultimate night out?

The sheer variety of unique, high quality entertainment, combined with fantastic level of service and fine dining options that accompanied the performance is what makes the London Cabaret Club a one of a kind experience.

What is the favourite thing about what you do?

The most favourite thing about my job is being able to be creative with what I do and through this creativity being able to deliver a unique and wonderful experience to our clients…

The Hunter’s Moon is the new drinking, dining and Sunday roast destination on Fulham Road. Chelsea’s latest local was founded by Oliver Marlowe and Hubert Beatson-Hird and offers a daily changing menu of modern European dishes alongside an extensive and comprehensive drinks list.

In the kitchen, Chef Director Oliver Marlowe has created an exciting menu showcasing classic British favourites alongside more innovative choices, using the best seasonal ingredients. We had the opportunity to try the Sunday roast at the new venue and it definitely didn’t disappoint.

Sides are made to share with delicious options including smoked bacon and cabbage; roasted artichokes and endive with aged balsamic. We were offered a decadent cauliflower cheese cauldron to have with our roast, the perfect accompaniment. The experience was akin to entering your slightly sloaney friends’ country house for a ‘no expense spared’ Sunday roast, complete with an AGA and sky light extension. We had feeling that we were in for a fantastic time and would be leaving completely satisfied.

A charming fusion of traditional and modern British style, The Hunter’s Moon features bespoke hand-made furniture and artisan textiles and materials, alongside unique reclaimed antiques and vintage finds. Designed by Boxx Creative, the bar has a dark, warm and sophisticated colour palette, offset by deep accents and complemented by textures, striking patterns and prints. Soft layered lighting and eclectic artwork adorning the walls further enhance the atmosphere, providing an inviting space for guests to relax. Dogs are welcome and well catered for too, with water bowls available on request and maybe even a treat or two.

A blackboard will champion a range of meat cuts and daily specials, whilst those looking for a more casual bite can choose from a bar menu of snacks and sharing plates. Think hearty pub favourites – scotch eggs and sausage rolls, alongside courgette and ricotta croquettes and steak tartare. Come weekends, guests can also indulge in a Saturday brunch with dishes including huevos rancheros with grilled flatbreads; and eggs Benedict with Gochujang hollandaise and crispy pork belly.

Other menu highlights include the likes of beef wellington with cocotte potatoes, crispy trompettes and Madeira sauce; double baked cheese soufflé with Montgommery cheddar, melted leeks, button mushrooms and truffle; and blackberry and custard pavlova with pink praline crunch.

On the drinks menu guests will find an extensive wine list, offering a selection from a wide number of regions and with a vintage to suit every taste. Craft beers and ales will feature alongside international brands and top shelf spirits, with classic cocktails available on request.

Cha Cha Mayfair is a new seafood bar and restaurant at Mercato Metropolitano in the Grade I St Mark’s Church, Mayfair, right in the heart of central London. With a mix of stained glass windows, grilled octopus with salsa verde and lashings of fiery margaritas…it truly is a religious experience.

A Fusion of Mediterranean Seafood and Exotic Cocktails

Cha Cha Mayfair is the latest in a series of exciting new openings for the Initiative Group and combines eclectic cocktails with fresh Mediterranean seafood. With a prime position overlooking the entirety of the food market, Cha Cha’s bar is surrounded by beautiful church windows and has an open seafood kitchen so you can watch the expert chefs at work.

New dishes from the expertly curated menu include the mouthwatering lobster and crab roll with horseradish sauce and the grilled octopus with salsa verde. Larger seafood platters to share with friends are also on offer such as ‘The Carmen’ (£25) which includes rock oysters, king prawns, lobster and langoustine as well as ‘The Sergio’ (£20) which includes scallops, rock oysters, palourde clams and blue mussels. The staff are passionate about serving up the best cocktails in town and are committed to sourcing the best spirits for each drink. We sampled the fresh Cha Cha Margarita as well as the fruity El Dorado (ideal for the vodka lover). The bar was buzzy, the drinks were zesty and the food was unbelievable. We had the best seats in the house.

A Hub of Sustainable Dining and Culinary Innovation

At its heart, Cha Cha’s ethos is defined by responsible sourcing, enforcing a zero-waste policy and being mindful of the way in which they consume products. This is also in keeping with the values of Mercato Metropolitan whose mission is focused on using fresh, artisan and sustainably sourced ingredients as much as possible. In addition to Cha Cha, the church space has two levels of food stalls and bars which are accompanied by a rooftop terrace, whilst the vaulted crypt basement hosts an authentic wine cellar with fresh cuts and world cheeses, a micro-brewery, events and cookery classes for everybody to gather, learn and share. Cha Cha Mayfair is just one of the many exciting developments in the pipeline of the Initiative Group. Over the next year, expect to see the following setting up around the country:

  • Cha Cha at Eden Locke (Edinburgh): All-day casual dining and drinks,
  • Taco by Cha Cha (London): Tacos bar and drinks
