For children and parents who love creative play with less mess and appreciate unique vintage haberdashery, Forest Craft and Play boxes are the perfect way to entertain your little ones as well as creating happy memories and keepsakes you will treasure.

Set-up during lockdown, mum Karen Griggs, designed her own craft and play boxes for the family and mum’s in the village to entertain their kids. The creative kits were such a big hit that Forest Craft and Play boxes was founded.

Karen’s boxes bring a bit of outdoors and nature direct to your kitchen table. Choose from a selection of crafty ideas with everything you need included in your box, all pre-cut making it completely stress-free. All the materials are gathered responsibly from Karen’s garden and private woodlands within a ten-mile radius of her home. For any items she needs to purchase, she works with suppliers who happily share the source of their products so that you can trace the origin of everything in the box. “We all want to lead more sustainable lives and make ethical purchases. I believe I should be helping my customers on that journey.” Says Karen.

I was sent the Mother’s Day gift box, which featured everything we needed to make a forest crown, all beautifully wrapped in tissue paper, with a handcrafted note. My daughter, Eden loves anything crafty, so she got to work on my Mother’s Day crown, carefully embellishing the handmade ring of plaited willow which had been sourced from the grounds at Old Forge York. Over one hour later Eden was still adorning the plaited willow crown with feathers, ribbon, and knick-knacks from our own garden and by the time she was finished it was fit for a Queen. Our box also comprised of cute wooden peg dolls, complete with their own felt outfits, vintage ribbons, dried rosebuds, and other bits of haberdashery. The craft kit contains instructions to help get you started but the idea is you freestyle and make it fun.
