Looks aren’t everything – it’s what we constantly tell each other all the time. We say that men with long eyelashesare attractive, some women are genuinely attracted to men with”dad bods,” and there’s no one objective standard of beauty all men have to follow.

And while it’s true that looks don’t measure our self-worth, studies have found that a man’s body image can have a significant effect on his confidence, self-esteem, and productivity. This goes to show how far a good men’s haircut and shavecan go in making a man look and feel his best, and how it can affect their overall performance and happiness.

Men and Body Image

While some men are proud of their bodies, many men continue to suffer from negative body image issues. It’s a common belief that women suffer from greater body image issues, but a study from the Center of Appearance Research at the University of West England found that male body image issues are just as bad as female body issues.

A survey from the study found that 80 percent of men talk negatively about their body, with some 35 percent of men willing to trade a year of their life in exchange for their ideal body type. This study showed that men also subjected themselves to “body talk” – a practice where men openly talk about and compare their bodies – which Dr. Philippa Diedrichs, who led the study, claimed was one of the reasons why unrealistic beauty standards in men are reinforced.

Body Image Affects Productivity

Looks have such a huge effect on men that how they look at work can also affect their overall productivity. What a man wears and the way he looks at work can affect how others see you and the way you feel, think, and act at work. All these factors can affect how well you do at work because of your self-esteem and the way you can confidently work with other people.

This does not mean you have to come to work overdressed – this can have the opposite effect on your confidence. The key is to finding the right balance to fit in with your office’s dress code while looking and feeling your best. This can be done simply by wearing clean and tidy clothes and practicing proper hygiene and grooming habits.

Improving Self-esteem Through Body Image

A man’s self-esteem can be tied to their body image. This means that if a man is conscious about their hair, body shape, and facial features, they may suffer from low self-esteem. This, in turn, can cause a lot of mental health issues (anxiety, stress, increased risk of depression) and physical conditions (drug and alcohol abuse).

On the other hand, men with high self-esteem are more confident and feel more positive about their qualities and strengths. Because of this, it is important for men to feel confident and comfortable with how they look. They may not have the ideal body type, but it is still possible to feel confident about their bodies. By accepting that the perfect body type may be unattainable and focusing on the aspects that are good or can be approved on, men can learn to appreciate their bodies and improve their self-esteem.
