We asked our beauty writer Rachel McAlley to test the new NYK1 LashForce Serum and to let us know what she thought of the result. She simply answered, “Could there be a better beauty invention?”

With bigger brows and natural lashes dominating so many runway shows including Roland Mouret, Saint Laurent and Mary Katrantzou for SS18; NYK1’s LashForce Serum natural lash-enhancing product is set to become THE hero beauty product of 2018.

Discovered and reformulated by NYK1 owner Andrea Asquith, who has over 30 years experience in the beauty industry; LashForce is a dermatologically and ophthalmology tested serum (not tested on animals), which was specifically formulated to offer a highly effective, yet inexpensive ‘at-home’ product, and is already the No1 best-selling lash serum product on Amazon acos.

NYK1 Lash & Brow Serum works by stimulating blood flow to the hair follicles, creating more protein, vitamins and nutrients for the lash and brow roots, producing a more follicular action and ultimately more growth. The addition of B Vitamins make the lashes and brows stronger, preventing damage so that they stay put for longer. This allows them to extend much longer than the consumer’s normal growth rate cycle. As such, in 2-4 weeks your lashes will start to be thicker, darker, fuller and up to 2x longer by weeks 6-8.

Rachel said; “It may just be because I’m taking more notice of my eyelashes, but in just a few days my lashes definitely seem to be healthier and less brittle, I can’t wait to see the result in a few weeks time. If it continues to work as it is doing right now, could there be a better beauty invention?”

For more information about NYK1 LashForce Serum by search online for NYK1. Priced at £34.95.

Over recent years the beauty industry has expanded drastically. It’s one of the most prevalent industries to be in at present. It’s ever changing, with new products, new concepts and its level of immediacy is something you can’t escape from. Skincare is ever-growing within the beauty industry and is set to grow by 12% by 2024. So #TeamCoco have researched the shift in skincare and picked the Top 5 trends that we foresee to be key in 2018, along with some top products that fall within them.

Anti-pollution
The first trend started in 2017 yet with the amount of future launches that fall into this category; it’s safe to say that anti-pollution products are going nowhere. With most millennials being ambitious and putting a good career first in life, we’re being driven to live in cities, which although is amazing for our job prospects, it’s not so good for our skin. Blockages, enlarged pores, blemishes and dull skin are the result of impurities and toxins causing congestion in your skin. Cleansing and even double cleansing can only do so much, this is where anti-pollution products come in. Lightweight and full of antioxidants the below products unveil luminosity, boost resilience, offer protection and fortify skin’s natural defence cycle.

Fresh – Black Tea Kombucha Essence Treatment; £59
A leave-on formula powered by kombucha, fermented sweet black tea that increases moisture and luminosity for a radiant, complexion.

Chantecaille; Anti-Pollution Finishing Essence; £112
Free of animal components, sulphates, synthetic colours, synthetic fragrance, parabens and GMO’s Infused with powerful botanical extracts and antioxidants, relieving dry skin and signs of redness.

Hybrid/Dual-Action
The next trend is again influenced by millennials, with juggling work, long commutes, eating well, exercising and socialising, a noticeable surge in dual action products has made way for hybrid beauty. From skincare products that have benefits from cleansing and toning and moisturising all in one to skincare brands who have ventured into colour providing cosmetics (mainly foundations and primers) that have skincare benefits too. This isn’t a new trend by any means but expect brands to be capitalising on it, so keep an eye out for new product launches and start investing because who doesn’t want to shave off 15 minutes of their skincare routine?

MZ Skin Cleanse and Clarify, Dual Action AHA Cleanser and Mask; £56
This product is formulated with Alpha Hydroxy Acids, it cleanses, clarifies and exfoliates all whilst helping skin retain moisture and boosting skins renewal process.

La Prairie Skin Caviar Concealer Foundation; £162
This foundation is a cream emulsion that offers natural full coverage foundation and concealer paired with La Prairie’s legendary caviar extracts and SPF15.

Face Mists
The next isn’t a trend per say, nor is it a new venture however, this year, expect to see a few brands releasing face mists and prepare to add it to your must-haves. From hydration to make-up setting, face mists are key, providing an array of skincare benefits and also perfect for waking you and your skin up whether it be at your desk or on a flight.

Clinique – Moisture Surge Spray; £22.50
Following on from Clinique’s hero product; moisture surge, this face spray has the exact same benefits just in liquid form,

Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Face Mist; £50
Inspired by the Queen of Hungary Water, the world’s first recorded perfume, formulated for Queen Elisabeth of Hungary in the 14th centur, this toner is both purifying and hydrating.

Masks
The highest searched beauty product last year was of course, face masks. Overnight masks, sheet masks, hydrating masks, deep cleansing masks, you name it; masks are still huge and are going nowhere anytime soon. The array of benefits and styles available have made masking more accessible and flexible to incorporate into our daily routines, no longer having to lay still for 20 minutes (an absolute luxury) you can mask or even multi-mask whilst doing yoga or making a cup of tea.

Snake Oxygenating & Cleansing Bubble Mask;£48
This mask bubbles so is instantly a fun addition to your routine, it removes dead skin cells, oils and the charcoal in it unclogs pores along with a blend of collagen for plumping, leaves skin fresher smoother looking skin.

Glamglow Glitter mask Gravity Mud Firming Treatment; £44
This innovative treatment is also super fun, glitter holographic stats that peels (no mess) off to reveal tighter, toned and more radiant skin.

Clean
We may have moved on to other approaches since clean eating first arose however a clean lifestyle is still sought after and it’s now transforming how we look at beauty too. With our skin being our largest organ and absorbing up to 80% of what we put on it, there’s no surprise that the ingredients in our skincare have come under question. The trend encompasses products that are free of harmful ingredients, avoid animal testing yet still have noticeable benefits. It’s of course impossible to have a brand or product that does everything without any harmful ingredients in at present but with the increase in veganism and a genuine concern for wellbeing, it’s something that is set to be key in the future.

Tropic Skincare Super Greens Serum; £42
This serum is a shot of healthy greens for your skin, boosting your skins natural defences, nutrient levels and cams irritated skin.

Sand & Sky Purifying Pink Clay Mask; £39.90
Detoxifying skin, tightening pores and radiance boosting, this product also falls under masks and anti-pollution so is technically also a hybrid, winner.

As one of the UK’s most sought after and influential Spa Directors it’s always been Claire Caddick’s dream to find the perfect beauty ‘potion’ to share with you.

Her duty and her ultimate desire has always been the discovery of hero products for the beauty market. She’s uncovered a phenomenal natural product that she feels is the holy grail that we’re all searching for. Cue the launch of her brand, Tribe517.

Here, we chatted to Claire to find out more…

When did you launch the brand and what was the reason behind it?
Official launch was 17 September 2016. I felt the market was lacking a high quality natural product that does absolutely everything, serum, 24 hr moisture, cleanser, make up removal, eyes, lips and throat. I travel so much for work, I needed my entire regime in one jar, hence it is fondly known, as the Capsule Wardrobe for your Face.

The passion and motivation fuelled further by the ‘Beautiful Hero’, you can read the true and heartfelt story at tribe517.com Whats your background?

I actually have a 32 year background in therapy initially, which led onto Spa Directorship and now a very successful Spa Design Consultancy, Sparticulate creates boundary pushing Spa Development and hospitality including product design amongst a plethora of other aspects.

How many people are involved in the company and what are their roles?
At present myself, the alchemist creating alongside myself, and another business investor. We opt to outsource marketing, sales tasks etc. I choose to be involved at every stage to maintain integrity of the product and the way it is brought to market

If you could start over with the business, would you do anything differently?
In essence I am delighted with the way things have developed organically, and wouldn’t change any of that at all. Sometimes it’s the little things than happen along the way that give the product it’s personality and generates interest. I would always tell myself not to ‘sweat the small stuff’ though, it’s wasted energy!

What is the hardest challenge you have faced since you started the company?
Finding time to dedicate to every single thing that needs doing, alongside another very busy company, I now manage this time very effectively however. To begin was a little bit ‘chicken and egg’ you might say.

2018 is almost here, where do you plan on taking the brand?
2018 is the year of sharing the ethical love, and sees the brand entering the professional spa arena, with the signature triBACTIF facial to launch, followed closely by development of the body product and treatment, which is all a big secret at the present time. It again developed organically purely as I was asked by so many people in the industry to get it into high end spa as well as retail, I just couldn’t ignore this request from the industry.

To date, what has been the highlight since launching?
Winning a Platinum Natural Skincare award just weeks after launch was amazing, and such a surprise and delight, generating a massive amount of interest. However nothing will ever compare to a new tribal follower telling me it is the best product they have ever used. This excites me every time without fail, even more so when they come back to purchase yet another jar.

Three beauty products you can’t leave the house without?
Aside from Tribe517, it would have to be YSL Touche Eclat, Estee Lauder Beautiful fragrance and a Crabtree and Evelyn hand cream.

Style means….?
Being yourself and happy in your own skin!

Best thing about London to you?
The eclectic mix of absolutely everything, people, fashion, food and drink, and anything goes, together with personal autonomy.

Statement shoe or statement bag?
Shoes every time, and lots of them!

If you had to, what piece of clothing from your wardrobe would you wear everyday?
Definitely my ripped jeans. Chic, comfortable glamour, so easy to wear and dress up or down.

Favourite love song?
Will always be Elvis, Just Can’t Help Believin’.

Best place for a coffee?
A sophisticated independent little tea place, with loose leaf and vintage atmosphere all the way, I don’t drink coffee.

Most memorable piece of advice given to you?
‘Always practice the right thing in life, and you’ll never go far wrong’, wise words from my father when I was very young, and I still live by this today, the grown up word for his advice is ‘integrity’.

Guilty pleasure?
Sweet Sherry…. But only occasionally, I promise you.

If you could spent 24 hours in anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Macaroni Beach on Mustique in the Caribbean, it’s a deserted tropical white beach with azure sea but you need to walk through the woods to get to it, so very few people go there.

In future, how do you plan on expanding the company?
We are developing the availability from retail only, to professional spa, and creating a few other products which will sit alongside with the same ethos and branding, and exploring the EMEA markets too. Grow the charitable foundation the ‘Beautiful Hero which sits behind the product to support all sorts of heroes in our world today.

If you are the one in your friend group who obsesses over finding the obscure, the unusual and the undiscovered – come here close, closer, as we let you in on our hot travel tip for 2018; South TyrolNow, take that secret to your grave.

Just kidding, there’s more than enough of this bewitching region, where Austrian meets Italy, to go around. That said, with 300 days of sun a year, 17,000km of walking trails, 400 manor house and an eco friendly approach to being (South Tyrol produces twice the amount of electricity it needs, mostly through hydroelectrics), they may find an invasion on their hands soon enough.

You may have read about our adventures in the South Tyrol region back in Volume 5 where we explored the land with a collective of thinkers, artists and creatives but, for our most recent experience of the land, we didn’t even go there. It transcended miles and miles to reach our ears, eyes, mouths and noses over a lively evening fuelled by local sparkling wine.

Our hosts for the evening were Michelin starred chef, Egon Heiss and ‘Chevalier of Cheese’ Gregor Wenter from ‘South Tyrol’s hidden jewel’ restaurant Bad Schoergau. Cured meats brought mediterranean Italian flavours which were then bolstered by earthy beetroot appetisers and tart horseradish that danced us over the Austrian border. The meal was beautifully exciting, with particular highlights in a luminescent green ‘Pine Risotto’ and a delicate dessert to celebrate one of the region’s prized product; apples.

Between courses we were whisked away to a real South Tyrollean forest – not physically of course but through a guided meditation from Martin Kiem, a psychologist from the area, aided with a brand of a pine tree we took in a ‘Forest Bathing’ session. While this is traditionally a Japanese wellness activity named Shinrin Yoku, Martin is looking to bring the practice over to Europe and believes South Tyrol to be a perfect place with its 93% coverage of forest. In Japan, Shirin Yoku, is an activity that is even prescribed by doctors to alleviate stress and, after listening to the forest, inhaling the pine goodness of our branch and taking the time to unwind after a busy day in London, we can completely relate.

We closed our evening adventure to South Tyrol sampling the trees of the region, one last time, through the beauty brand Trehs which harnesses the original mountain pine of the Sarn valley. The use of this pine tree goes back centuries and its a staple in every medicine cabinet in the area, which is now available as cleansing and exhilarating body products. If our meditation was forest bathing, showering with these products is a kin to forest streaking?!

So, South Tyrol is definitely on our list for an adventure next year as a lesser known region that celebrates wellness in all its forms; mentally, physically and gastronomically. Not sure that’s a word but, a bit like Forest Bathing, its evocative enough that you just have to give it a try.

To find out more about South Tyrol and Forest Bathing head to suedtirol.info . The Trehs brand can be found at trehs.com and last, but certainly not least, book in for amazing cultural cuisine at bad-schoergau.com

Now, if we find you booking some 2 week package holiday on Teletext after we’ve spilled all our travel secrets – well, more of South Tyrol for us.
