San Francisco, the vibrant city on the west coast of the United States, is a destination that caters to all kinds of travelers. From its iconic landmarks to its diverse culinary scene, there is something for everyone. As a luxury seeker, I recently had the opportunity to experience the best of San Francisco, indulging in the finer things the city has to offer. Join me on a journey through my itinerary, filled with exquisite dining, breathtaking views, and memorable experiences.

Upon my arrival at San Francisco International Airport, I was whisked away to the luxurious LUMA Hotel by Uber. This contemporary hotel, located at 100 Channel Street, provided the perfect base for my stay. After freshening up and taking some time to rest, I eagerly headed to Pier 3 for a Premier Dinner Cruise with City Experiences. The three-hour yacht cruise offered an unparalleled dining experience with a plated dinner featuring a delicious summer menu. As we sailed along the San Francisco Bay, the city’s skyline, including iconic landmarks like the Golden Gate Bridge, Bay Bridge, and Alcatraz Island, provided a stunning backdrop. With DJ entertainment and a wide selection of beverages, the night was truly unforgettable.

The following day, I embarked on the Ultimate San Francisco Food Tour. Led by City Experiences, this tour took us through historic family-run eateries in three iconic neighborhoods. From delis and bakeries to taquerías and dim sum spots, each stop revealed a part of San Francisco’s culinary story. The tour culminated in a uniquely San Franciscan dish, a perfect reflection of the city’s diverse food culture. After savoring the local flavors, we made our way to the Fillmore Jazz Festival in Pacific Heights. The festival, spread across 12 blocks, combined soulful live music with fine arts and crafts. It was a delightful experience that celebrated the sounds of the city.

On the third day, we visited The Ferry Building Marketplace, which was celebrating its 125th birthday. This vibrant gathering of local farmers, artisan producers, and independent food businesses showcased the best of Northern California’s culinary scene. I recommend Peaches Patties – thank me later. After a tour and brunch, we immersed ourselves in the fascinating history of the San Francisco Giants with a group tour of Oracle Park. From there, we explored the Mission Rock Development, an exciting new project in the city. To end the day on a flavorful note, we dined at Spark Social, a food truck park in the heart of Mission Bay. With over 150 unique street food vendors, it was an ever-changing culinary adventure.

The fourth day began with a bike tour across the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, offering breathtaking views of the city and Sausalito. We then enjoyed a delightful lunch at Boudin at the Wharf, a historic bakery famous for its sourdough bread. The tour continued with a visit to the Cable Car Museum, where I learned about the history of San Francisco’s beloved cable cars. In the evening, we savoured the culinary creations of SAN HO WON, a Korean charcoal BBQ restaurant that boasted one Michelin star. The combination of traditional Korean tastes and innovative techniques made for an exceptional dining experience.

As the trip neared its end, we had the opportunity to explore Chinatown via the new Central Subway, which opened earlier this year. The subway not only provided convenient transportation but also showcased striking visual public art that celebrated the vibrant culture of Chinatown. We visited Edge on the Square, the Bay Area’s first Asian American Pacific Islander contemporary arts and media hub, where creativity and culture thrived. The day concluded with a visit to John’s Grill, a San Francisco institution celebrating its 115th year, followed by a Fourth of July Fireworks Cruise with Red and White Fleet. The dazzling fireworks show against the city skyline was a fitting grand finale to our trip.

San Francisco, with its rich history, diverse neighborhoods, and culinary delights, offers a plethora of luxurious experiences for discerning travelers. From elegant dinner cruises to immersive food tours and cultural explorations, this city caters to those seeking the finer things in life. My journey through San Francisco left me with lasting memories and a deep appreciation for the city’s unique charm. Whether you’re a luxury seeker or simply looking for an extraordinary adventure, San Francisco is the perfect destination to indulge your senses and create unforgettable moments.

Introducing you to The Greenway in Gloucestershire

If you are looking for a dreamy countryside retreat on the fringes of the Cotswolds, consider The Greenway for your next staycation. Located close to the Regency town of Cheltenham and the stunning spot of Crickley Hill, the Bridgerton-esque Greenway (part of the Eden Hotel Collection) upon first glance looks like a historical landmark from a romantic novel.

As you drive down the sweeping entrance drive which is shrouded by trees, you are greeted by an impressive 16th century manor house made of classic Cotswolds stonework, tall chimneys and gables nestled in eight acres of lush grounds. It’s fairly remote, but the quaint town of Cheltenham is just a matter of minutes away by car.

Having recently undergone a renovation in excess of a million pounds, our quest for a stylish sojourn was quickly realised. The hotel has a real majestic feel and effortlessly blends elegance and rustic charm without ever being pretentious or tacky.

The hotel only hosts 21 rooms which are all individually decorated. 13 of the rooms are housed in the main building of the hotel and there are a further 6 in a nearby old coach house. We stayed in the sumptuous Manor Four Poster room which was an absolute delight.

Every detail is carefully throughout from the sumptuous super king four poster bed to the luxurious bathroom with its roll top bath, once you check in, you may never want to leave.

Decorated in soothing hues of white and grey, the super spacious room (which is basically like a suite!) is the epitome of serenity and opulence and it has the best views in the entire hotel of the rolling lawns complete with delicious-smelling lavender and the surrounding Cotswolds hills which are captured via the old casement windows.

You can even gaze upon those rolling hills from the privacy of your bathroom which along with an expansive roll top bath, also has his and hers sinks, a rainfall shower and an enviable selection of nourishing and relaxing Temple Spa toiletries.

The Greenway’s location makes dining a wise choice and you would not want to miss out on the spectacular food that is served. Foodies will love The Garden Restaurant an award-winning 4 AA Rosette eatery which serves up seasonal menus with an impressive selection of dishes most of which have been carefully-crafted with ingredients sourced locally.

Choose from dishes like an octopus terrine, English beetroot or garden tomatoes to start which are all revitalising on the palette, followed by a light summer pea risotto, spring lamb rogan josh or a sea bass with a saffron and potato risotto for a main course.

You can also eat brunch and lunch at the restaurant at the spa which has a collection of quirky Champagne bottles adorning the walls for lighter bites and you can also partake in a traditional afternoon tea in the garden or the exquisite sitting room.

And talking of the spa, this area has reaped the benefits of the recent investment with a relaxing thermal suite, sauna and steam room. There’s also a great swimming pool, and al fresco hot tub which also has some sun loungers nearby for the ultimate R&R experience.

From the croquet lawn to the log fires, every aspect of the Greenway will bring a smile to your face and if you are looking for a luxurious weekend away complete with excellent food, then the Greenway ticks all the boxes and more.

Check in: An overnight stay in a Manor Room costs from £372 including breakfast per night. To book, visit https://www.thegreenwayhotelandspa.com/

Identifying the optimal dietary choices is essential for achieving maximum wellness. Monitoring the nutrients consumed involves intakes of essential vitamins, minerals, proteins, fats, and carbs. Understanding the nutritional content of food enables us to fashion our meals according to our demands.

These needs can change depending on how old we are, if we are a boy or a girl, how active we are, and if we have any health problems. Here are some important reasons mentioned to make you realize the significance of nutrient tracking:

Identifying nutrient deficiencies:

The careful monitoring of nutrient intake operates as a watchful mentor, providing steady supervision to maintain optimal health. If iron levels are insufficient, it can give rise to anemia, leading to undesirable outcomes. Not getting enough vitamin D can hurt your bones. Identifying issues on time enables people to take remedial steps. Either healthy eating habits or complementary supplementation can contribute to robust health, this will help them avoid getting sick.

Supporting athletic performance:

People who play sports and enjoy exercising understand how important nutrition is for making them better at what they do and helping them feel better afterward. Nutrient monitoring helps them consume the appropriate foods before, during, and after working out. These nutrients supply the required fuel and support for peak athletic performance.

Managing chronic health conditions:

Tracking the nutrient content of meals can provide valuable insights for those managing persistent health issues. Attentive monitoring of dietary factors is necessary for maintaining optimal health when dealing with conditions such as these. By closely monitoring their dietary choices; individuals can attain greater command over their blood sugar levels, salt intake, and gluten consumption. Using this resource can assist individuals in managing their medical issues.

Customizing dietary plans:

Following the nutrient levels in your food empowers you to compose a diet designed uniquely for you. These experts can evaluate your food choices and provide personalized suggestions to promote healthier living. Customized eating plans give people the appropriate mix of vitamins and supplements at the ideal doses. This substance can help promote smoother digestion, increasing vitality and improving emotional states.

Fostering mindful eating habits:

Eating carefully is not very common nowadays because people eat fast food and get easily distracted. Tracking nutrients is a valuable tool for being aware of your eating habits. Upon embarking on a dietary awareness journey, individuals typically opt for wholesome options and consume fewer processed and unhealthy treats by default. Being present with each bite makes you value and savor your food more deeply. Consuming food becomes a gratifying and delightful endeavor.

Preventing overconsumption:

In a society where an abundance of nutritious options is readily available, consuming excessive amounts can become a major concern. Nutrient monitoring facilitates responsible food choices and portion control. By looking at how much food we eat, how many calories we consume, and the balance of nutrients in our food, we can see if we are eating too much and make changes to stay healthy. Eating less than your body burns can be done by adopting this routine.

Enhancing digestive health:

Experiencing digestive problems, limited eating options, and heightened food sensitivity can lead to substantial emotional anguish. Monitoring nutrient intake resembles being an investigator. This tool enables individuals to identify potential culprits behind digestive issues. If you find the foods that bother your tummy and stop eating them, you can improve your digestion. The application of this treatment can alleviate feelings of bloating and unease.

Encourage long-term eating habits:

Regularly logging nutrient intake leads to notable modifications in habits. When people carefully track what they eat, they become more aware of themselves and think more about the food they choose. Gradually developing this habit enables individuals to establish sustainable nutritional routines that enhance their overall welfare. Nurturing healthy practices creates a stronger bond between our mental state, digestive health, and self-awareness.

Promoting overall well-being:

Regularly monitoring nutrient consumption can foster remarkable health enhancements. A well-rounded diet that incorporates healthy foods maintains your body’s resilience, preserves organ functionality, and reduces the likelihood of persistent disease. Consuming nutritious meals can fortify the body, infusing vitality and vigor into daily life.

Conclusion:

Consuming a healthy mix of nutrients, monitored through regular tracking, is vital nowadays. This exercise regimen can support overcoming long-term health issues and bolstering digestion.

In addition, tracking nutrients allows people to create customized eating regimens that contribute to enhanced general well-being. Our journey to improved health dictates that we prioritize nutritional monitoring. By leveraging this knowledge, we can lay the groundwork for a radiant future through conscious food choices and their attendant benefits.

For sweets treats, it’s hard not to single out the espresso martini brownies made with Love Cocoa coffee beans as a must eat.

Ahead of the 50th anniversary of hip-hop on 11th August, the vibrant city of New York is THE place to be to not just celebrate this life-affirming genre, but every aspect of the Big Apple’s legendary music scene from hip-hop and rock ‘n’ roll to Broadway. A Music Lover's Guide To New York
New York at sunset

New York City is a city that lives and breathes music. It is known for its rich musical heritage and it’s home to some of the best clubs, venues, and record stores in the world.

The genre of hip-hop celebrates its 50th anniversary this week. Way back when a pivotal moment initiated a brand new genre as well as a cultural shift.

On 11 August 1973, a young DJ changed the world forever and the genesis of hip-hop provided the disaffected youth of Harlem and the Bronx in New York to have a voice.

DJ Kool Herc took to the decks at a birthday party in the Bronx and tried a new technique. This technique was using ‘breaks’ to interrupt the flow of the record that was playing.

Using a mixer and two turntables to overlap and seamlessly play breakbeat after breakbeat after breakbeat, caused a sonic revolution which was completely groundbreaking at the time.

Over time, other elements such as break dancing, rapping, Graffiti art and DJing, all formed part of the ever-evolving hip-hop culture.

So, to commemorate that seminal 50th anniversary, our Music Editor Emma Harrison rounds up the must-visit spots for any music lover to enjoy whilst in New York.

Stay in a music-themed hotel

What could be better to keep things on brand than to stay in a music-themed hotel? Enter the stage left the dazzling Hard Rock Hotel in the heart of Times Square.

This is the ultimate epitome of a pitch-perfect slice of the Big Apple – this stylish hotel is positively steeped in music history.

Music memorabilia adorns the walls of the reception, the bar and other shared areas which includes a spectacular butter yellow Max Azria Atelier dress once worn by Alicia Keys, song lyrics, striking images of musicians from both the past and present like James Brown, guitars from Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones and more.

Budding musicians can also hire guitars to channel their own Jimi Hendrix or Janis Joplin where you can rock out in the sanctuary of your room to your heart’s content with the hotel’s Hard Rock’s Sound of Your Stay experience.

Hard Rock by name, Hard Rocking by nature! If you prefer to be a captivated audience member instead, you can enjoy live performances from both local, national and international artists.

Keep those peepers peeled, as you might well spot world-renowned stars like Halsey who has performed in the hotel’s basement.

Located just around the corner from iconic music landmarks including Radio City Music Hall, Rockefeller Center and Broadway.

It’s also a great place to grab a drink (the consumption of music-themed cocktails is strictly obligatory!) and try some of the delicious options at the ‘Sessions’ restaurant which is where you will find the majority of the hotel’s vast collection of music memorabilia.

If you are looking for the best place to enjoy steak in the city – head to the hotel’s NYY Steak, an elegant wood-panelled restaurant down on the ground floor. The steak and other dishes are simply sublime and are complimented by the exceptional service too.

For a lighter bite, check out the mezze options at RT60, a stylish bar and lounge way up on the 34th floor. They also offer a fantastic range of cocktails, including New York, New York, a bourbon, vermouth and grapefruit bitters blend that Ole Blue Eyes would surely have given his seal of approval.

Naturally, the rooms follow suit with the music memorabilia, you’ll find a music soundwave above your bed and each room has a musician emblazoned on the glass door that leads to the marble-drenched bathroom.

As the world increasingly focuses on sustainable and renewable energy sources, one technology that has been steadily gaining popularity is solar street lighting. Solar street lighting utilizes natural light from the sun to provide illumination to outdoor spaces, saving energy and reducing costs for municipalities and residents. Check out tenkoo solar lights for some of the best solar lighting options on the market.

In this blog post, we’ll discuss the many benefits of investing in solar street lighting for your home, whether that’s from Olympia Lighting or elsewhere. From safety and convenience to environmental and financial savings, there is a lot to consider when choosing solar lighting solutions for your outdoor spaces.

Increased Safety for Pedestrians

In areas where traditional street lighting is unavailable or inadequate, solar street lights provide a reliable and sustainable alternative. With the ability to operate independently of the electrical grid, solar street lights can be installed in remote locations where traditional street lights are not practical. This is particularly important for pedestrian safety in areas with high foot traffic, such as college campuses, residential areas, and commercial districts.

Solar street lights provide a well-lit environment that allows pedestrians to safely navigate their surroundings, reducing the risk of accidents and improving overall safety. Furthermore, solar street lights do not require wiring or trenching, which minimizes the risk of tripping hazards and reduces the overall cost of installation. As a result, solar street lights are an excellent solution for improving pedestrian safety in communities around the world.

Cost-Effective and Energy-Efficient

Solar street lights are a great option to meet both of these criteria. Not only do they rely on renewable energy sources, but they also require minimal maintenance and have a long lifespan. Additionally, solar street lights eliminate the need for costly and environmentally harmful underground wiring, reducing both installation and maintenance costs.

By choosing solar street lights, cities and municipalities can save money on energy bills while simultaneously reducing their carbon footprint. As renewable energy continues to become more affordable and accessible, solar street lights are a smart choice for the future of public lighting.

Low Maintenance Requirements

Unlike traditional street lights that need to be connected to the electrical grid, solar street lights are self-sufficient and do not require any external power source or wiring. This means that once installed, they can operate autonomously and require little to no maintenance. Solar panels, batteries, and LED lights are all designed to last for many years, with minimal maintenance needed.

Additionally, since solar street lights do not have any moving parts, they are less prone to malfunctions, breakages, or wear and tear, further reducing the need for maintenance. The low maintenance requirements of solar street lights make them a cost-effective solution for lighting up streets, highways, and public spaces, while also reducing the burden on maintenance crews and the associated costs.

Environmentally Friendly Lighting Solution

The need for environmentally friendly lighting solutions has never been more pressing, and solar street lights represent a promising solution. These lights operate using clean, renewable energy from the sun, which reduces reliance on traditional grid electricity and lowers carbon emissions.

Unlike traditional street lights that require electrical wiring, solar street lights are self-contained and require no external power source, making them ideal for remote or off-grid locations. With advancements in solar technology, modern solar street lights are capable of providing bright and efficient lighting that is comparable to traditional street lights.

Additionally, solar street lights require minimal maintenance and have a long lifespan, making them a cost-effective and sustainable lighting solution. As we look to the future, it is clear that solar street lights will play an important role in illuminating our communities while promoting a cleaner and more sustainable environment.

Conclusion

Solar street lights offer a range of benefits that make them a smart choice for lighting streets, pathways, and public spaces. Not only do they reduce energy consumption and emissions, but they also require minimal maintenance and provide reliable lighting even in remote locations.

Additionally, solar street lights can improve safety and security by illuminating areas that were previously dark and hard to see. As the world looks for ways to reduce its carbon footprint and move towards more sustainable practices, solar street lights are an excellent example of how technology can be used to create a brighter, cleaner, and more efficient future.

If you don’t know where we’ve been, how do you know where we’re going?

A couple of weekends ago, we dived headfirst into a historical extravaganza that set our hearts racing to the sounds of swords clashing.
We went to the jaw-dropping, pulse-pounding, and drama-infused live event, ‘The War of The Roses,’ hosted exclusively at the enchanting Warwick Castle.

You’ve still got time to go (it ends September 3rd 2023) so prepare to be transported back in time, as they unravel the secrets, betrayals, and heartaches of this captivating and pivitol, period in English history.

Picture this… the grandeur of Warwick Castle, with its ancient walls standing tall, acting as a silent witness to the tumultuous events of The War of The Roses. This epic clash between two powerful houses, the Lancasters and the Yorks, is brought to life in a show that rivals the greatest tales of knights, kings, and queens.

Upon entering, you’re encouraged to choose a side. Fences adorned with white and red roses. The atmosphere is electrifying, as you file into your side of the jousting arena along with your fellow countrypeople, you hear the horses snorting in anticipation. The attention to detail is brilliant, with period-appropriate tents, weaponry, and even a giant trebuchet (which you can see in action in a separate show!).

As the scene begins, the audience is summoned to use their respective calls of “white rose!” or “red rose!”. As we shout, the stage is preparing for a battle like no other, with skilled actors and horses clad in armour, prepared to bring history to life. Swords gleaming, banners fluttering, and hearts pounding – the stage is set for an act of intrigue and suspense.

The performance begins, and we are instantly transported to a world of political scheming and personal rivalries. The acting is nothing short of stellar, with emotional performances that feel incredibly real. The chemistry between the actors is palpable, drawing you into their world, making you forget you’re witnessing a re-enactment (I always wanted to be a theatre reviewer and imagined them reading my glowing review of their skills, so I took this shit seriously, okay!).

Not only is the acting top-notch (wink), but the battle choreography is also a breath-taking sight to behold. The clash of swords, the thundering hooves of horses, and the cries of victory and defeat reverberate through the arena. You can almost feel the ground shake beneath you as the jousting enemies clash.

Between battle scenes, the audience is treated to moments of moving the story on. You are watching a gripping historical drama unfold before your eyes. The political manoeuvrings, the secrets, and the LIES (RoY- we know what you did in the Tower of London! I couldn’t help myself and shouted, “Don’t trust him!!!!!!”).

The War of The Roses LIVE event is a feast for all senses. The costumes lend an air of authenticity that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a time machine. The music, specially composed for the event, accentuates the emotions, heightening the drama and transporting you further into the past.

As the event reaches its climactic conclusion, the emotions run high, and the two houses come together to create The Tudors. They host a party, and the horses and riders perform tricks and stunts to loud and melodic joyful beats.

There’s no denying that ‘The War of The Roses’ live event at Warwick Castle is an unmissable experience for history buffs, theatre enthusiasts, and anyone who craves excitement.
